Greetings Gentlemen
My computer is a PIV 3,2 HT 1MgCache, on a MSI878 motherboard with 2Gig of DDRam 400mhz dual channel (2 slots of 1 Gig each) and a SATA hard drive.
My graphic card is a 9800XT and that is what I want to upgrade.
Now the question:

New motherboard with PCI express and a PCI express graphic card? and wich one?

or

ATI AGP X800?

or

Nvidia 6800 ultra?

Please tell me your opinion

Thank you in advance

I've been doing some shopping myself. I haven't purchased yet, but I think I am sold on the Nvidia. A bit more bang for a bit less buck.

My question has been (since I will soon be building a new system) is there any real advantage in going to PCI Express at this time. It seems that there is little to no software that exceeds the capabilities of AGP cards at this time.

all the reports that i've been reading says..dont waste the cash for the pci express cards yet. current games dont support what the card is supposedly designed to do.

The ONLY advantage to going PCI Express right now for video cards is in the future if you ever want to go SLI, then you already have one of the cards.

Other than that, there's no reason to upgrade your motherboard. Just save the money for a future upgrade or a slurpee or something.
