It's been my understanding that obviously, when using a router, you must re-configure a few
things to be able to play and host games.

I've been using a Linksys BEFSR41 Ver 3 'hardwired' router.

In order to 'host' a game, I had to set up a Static IP
For both 98SE, and windows XP
(There is a procedure for this)

Another thing I had to do was of course 'disable' the DMZ

Then I had to type in the Port Ranges for a particular game

As I understand it, UBI and HyperLobby, utilize port 21000,
so I guess it would be: start = 21000, and end = 21000

The Static IP was always a neccesary step (with a router), to definitely be able
to host a game. You can actually play a game, without setting up a Static IP, but
you can't host.

Just thought I'd mention a few of these things to see if you guys agree?

Thanx Happy Holidays!

Port forwarding info can be found here:

Includes most routers and even specific examples for IL2.

You should find what you're after in there and shown exactly as you'd enter it on your router (toad uses same model http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif)

In case you haven't picked up on what the others are saying. You can port-forward as an alternative to setting up a DMZ. This is desireable as it is more secure.
