I have been playing the game for about 5 hours straight (I cannot stop!) and not so much as a burp. No slow down, no "tearing," no clipping, no jagged edges (I am playing on a 360. Before the flames start, the achievments swayed me http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif).

My sisters boyfriend has been playing on the PS3 for about an hour less than I, and he has had the same experience.

***bit of a spoiler below if you do not know the "twist"***

This "screen tearing" people are typing about...I think they are not paying attention to what is going on in the game. The screen "tears" during the "modern" cutscenes at some points because the view is supposed to be coming from a security camera (read in the manual the note from the Doctor about the "new security guy" and "make sure he is taping everything)."

From what I have seen so far, the game runs absolutely beautifully.

Can you video tape or record some action please...I'm a poor Aussie who has to wait another week...And I'm dying for some new AC footage to help ease the pain!

Unfortunately, my PC is a bit of a Dinosaur (Pent. 4, 1 gb ram, nVidia 7800gt) and I have no video capabilities on it...

But, I do feel for you. My game was only a few hours late and I was freaking out.

I have been waiting for this game for 3 years now (since "Project Assassin" was anounced), and it may not make you feel any better...but it is defintely worth the wait! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif

Hang in there!

I hope you're right...THE SUSPENSE IS KILLING ME.

Well...the game's story is pretty much ruined for me...I mean c'mon, who could resist NEW AC news and footage...even if they contain "minor" spoilers! Although i am yet to experience it first hand...and I'm sure I'll still be surprised with some aspects of it!

Thanks for the encouragement dude...much appreciated!

Well...can you tell me ANYTHING about it so far? Coz these forums are my main source of AC...and they've been moving VERY slowly the past few hours!

Thx again man! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Yeah...I am only here because I am afraid of burning out my 360! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif I can see why the boards are slow...

First off, I may be a bit biased here as back in my college day (yeah, I am an old man) I did several papers on the "Hashashyyn" so I have always been fascinated by them...I thought the idea of using them as a plot device an excellent one. I was bit worried about the "sci-fi" thing (though I am a sci-fi fan), I thought it would not work with the crusade back drop...but, it adds an element to the game I like.

The lighting in the game is astounding...the cities look amazing and the distance view...I have never seen anything like them in any other game. The AI is not at all as stupid as I have been reading (unless I am more stupid than the AI, which I doubt)...and after the first few Templars I ran into handed my arse to me, I figured that out.

Being somewhat of a history buff (see above) I was also woried about the "attack one at a time" combat system. Well....I was wrong to worry. They DO NOT attack one at a time and the guy behind you has absolutely no qualms about back stabbing yuou while you are attacking his buddy in front of you. The "finishing moves" are brutal! The groaning of the dead as they pile up at your feet is disturbing (in a "good way" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif).

"Repetiveness"....bear in mind I have only done two assassinations thus far, but let me give you the run down on how they went. The first assassination, I made sure I did all the "help the citizens" first so I had some back up. This assassination has you killing a corrupt merchant in a market place. I thought I was going to walk up to him all calm like, knife him in the back, and run. Well, he spotted me, called his gurds, faught me, and I pretty much bungled the assassination. BUT...I see my "vigillante" friends from the corner of my eye, so run towards them...they grab him and hold him...and I put the wrist blade in the targets neck!

The second assassination (Damascus)...went off without a hitch.

Granted, only two assassinations, but they FELT completeley different to me. I am not sure how that will hold up with the next seven though.

I REALLY do not know why there have been a few negative reviews of this game. I love it. But...different people have different opinions, I guess. In mine...this game is going to be a classic and do not see myself getting tired of it anytime soon...

WOW! Thanks a lot for the run down...must have taken you a while to type up...and I appreciate that!

Well that's GREAT news to hear...because frankly I was about to give up after the delay and the bad reviews and news I'm hearing on these forums about the game!

I mean, I haven't even played it yet...But I already knew deep down that Assassin's Creed was going to be something really special! And now that you've recounted you're "story" thus far, I think it' going to be a Masterpiece...in our eyes at least!

You're not really THAT old are you! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Nice post Hassan; I look forward to getting my own grubby little hands on the game and having a similar experience.

People (including reviewers) are all different so you have to expect some people to criticise the game. It's life...

Well...Like game reviews, that is a matter of perception! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif It depends on what you consider old...

I am 38. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

@Trojanfoe...Yeah, some of those reviews had me a little nervous (especially since I have been waiting on this game for so long). But, in MY opinion, the 9.5's and 9.1's are a LOT closer to reality than the 7.5's.

Eh...just like movies, books...and games, I usually do not pay much mind to reviewers anyway. I have ecclectic tases. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif

I'm playing on a 360, and I played for a long time today and had like maybe 2 minor FPS hiccups, but nothing major, and it lasted a split second.

LOL...Good to know your not some 80 year old dude that still likes video games!

Although...come to think of it...By the time I reach 80...I'd still wouldn't be getting enough of AC, AC 2 and AC 3. And maybe AC The Movie: The Game! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Exactly! I have been playing video games since "pong"...and I probably will still be playing when I am 80! Heh. And believe it or not, I have a pretty decent job, a rather good looking girlfriend, I play in a band, and I actually have a lot of friends! I wish people would stop sterio-typing gamers...even the old ones like me!

The way I see it...playing games probably keeps me from killing people at the office and my neighbhors! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif

sometime there a fps drop for a sec and then it goes back to a higher fps.
so dont worry most of the time u wont notice anything it works just fine, and those fps drop wont spoil ur fun out of the game.
