That's really nicely presented. I've seen some of that before but that was great. In one of the sequences it looked like the pilot was reading a map whilst flying low level. More bronze ones than I've got.

Maybe somone should tell these guys, that these trees in the desert are not the same as in IL-2 (the ones you can fly through) http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

hmmmm... crazy is the distance the plane (Mirage F1 i guess?) flies while the pilot is reading the map.

The map reading bit might have been on autopilot with terrain following radar, if it wasn't the guy needs to get his priorities straight http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I don't think that was a map the pilot was reading. Looked like the latest issue of Playboy to me. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

well, sorry Christian, this actually made me feel like I was an armchair pilot.... because I started to move my head around instictively, imitating trackIR view control, during those barrel rolls! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

They appear to be french Mirage F.1 CR and/or CT.
The AdA trains low level flying in Chad and there are multiple videos around, showing exactly the same footage.

BTW: some sequences are filmed by a Cougar-helicopter during low-lever flying.
There's also a vid on that one around.

In the ops room for the 42nd ECS, Upper Heyford (EF-111), there was a fun cartoon posted on the wall. The first frame was titled "WSO on his first night TFR." It was an all-black frame showing only two bugging-out white eyes, clearly terrified. The second frame was, "The same WSO on his 100th night TFR." It was an exact copy of the first.

That says it all, methinks. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

Not the first time I see amazing footage from those frenchies flying their Mirage jets!

Ever since the C.III captured my imagination I have loved these birds, the F1 is still very much a classic jet design (I'm not into the 21th century look).

I'm still romantic enough to think that pilot quality and balls will make up for (lack of) the latest in hi tech.

At least that's how I'd like to see the world!

I had not seen this before, thanks for posting. Now I have the sudden urge to fire up the old Flaming Cliffs...

Heck, some of that footage looked like 'Formula 1 on sand dunes'.

It was funny - at times, when he was edging lower and lower, I got the Sturmi-instinct to pull back on the joystick. Damn, I was sure he was going to hit the dirt on a couple of occaisions.

I wonder what their life insurance costs. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif
