All good things must come to an end.

It is pretty clear that things are winding up here, so in the event that UBI does the unlikely and outright wipes this forum out I thought that this post may be a good idea. If it turns out I am foolish, then please forgive this indulgence.

If SOW BOB sees the light of day, I expect that I will at least try it - and may like it so you may see me it that future community.

I lurk in CWOS - post occasionally at SIMHQ and I regularly contribute to the newsgroup alt.binaries.multimedia.aviation

If for any reason anyone would like to get in touch with me you can always put your lips together and whistle - at the following email address.

Well this forum is dying anyway.Eventually it will just be full of dross (its nearly there now)
If I was a new guy looking for help with Sturmovik 46 it would look like some strange little club, and not very welcoming.

It might be just a temporary thing. It happens from time to time. Even mods have moods.

Uther, what you might be referring to as "dross" is what many view as the reason to come here. The good ole days of patches and updates are history now.

Without the dross, this forum would be as interesting as a dictionary.

I don't think I have ever seen such an inaccurate post in two and a half years here, and I'm surprised to see it come from you.

If this forum was ever good for anything, it was good for help for n00bs. I've never seen one better, for any game, in fact. And this community, before it was shut down by Stalinists, was the most welcoming one to the new arrivals I've ever seen.

We all have our opinions Mojok, and you use the word 'was' several times. That is accurate.I am so glad that I came in near the beginning of il2,and this forum. Its not so good to be here near the end.Although not strictly relevant to this thread,I will mention the hack,as I think it has torn this 'community' in half, and I doubt it will recover.'Community help' is still a good source for people, but the first page that new guys come to is General discussion, and it all just seems a bit of a mess right now.

"We will meet again" (1939)

We'll meet again
Don't know where
Don't know when
But I know we'll meet again some sunny day

Keep smilin' through
Just like you always do
Till the blue skies drive the dark clouds far away

So will you please say hello
To the folks that I know?
Tell them I won't be long
They'll be happy to know
That as you saw me go
I was singing this song

We'll meet again
Don't know where
Don't know when
But I know we'll meet again some sunny day

Actually, it seems more as though "the members" not the moderators are doing all they can to end the forums and support here......My only guess it's two things combined;

1. Some acting like petulant children when not allowed to run wild...
2. Others deliberately trying to get all support shut down so their hack forum and their misguided efforts become the focal point of the community...

However, do not despair! I'm sure the staff here can deal with both quite adaquately <weg> http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Those that take the time to respond are not the only ones with authority over this forum....The generousity & tolerance of our mods here (ones we deal with regularly) is well known though seldom appreciated.....IOW, most likely putting their backsides on the line with Ubi and taking heat we'll never know of for those wishing to exceed the forum's limitations.

Don't know about you yet I'm not seeing every thread locked just those that are not pertinent to IL2 or air combat and planes....Just those OT and most of late oft times deliberate baiting and attemts to inspire the wrath of a moderator.

So it goes back to the members.....Post about something applicable to what the forum is intended for and my bet is if kept civil it would remain open.

Yes, and how could one member have the nerve to ask about something strange in the game?

http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m/1091036906

If you want to use Mort's post as an argument, that's rather weak considering the mods have the ability to delete posts.

The rules:
General Discussion
This topic area is for discussion of topics that relate directly to 1C:Maddox Games. PLEASE REMEMBER TO FOLLOW THE FORUM TERMS OF USE AND FORUM GUIDELINES. Inappropriate subjects that are offensive, profanity, and abusive behavior will not be tolerated.

So we can say bye bye to 95% of the threads here. This is going to become a pretty quiet place.

A song from my Cantabria:

"Nunca me digáis adiós,
que es una palabra triste:
los amigos que se quieren
nunca deben despedirse."

("Never say goodbye to me,
that is such a sad word:
friends that love each other,
must never say goodbye.")

And another from Andalusia:

"Cuando un amigo se va,
algo se muere en el alma,
cuando un amigo se va.

Cuando un amigo se va,
y va dejando una huella
que no se puede borrar.

¡No te vayas todavía,
no te vayas, por favor,
que hasta la guitarra mía,
llora cuando dice adiós!"

("When a friend leaves,
something dies in your soul,
when a friend leaves.

When a friend leaves,
he leaves a print in you
that can never be erased.

Don't go now, don't go, please,
for even this guitar of mine
weeps when she says goodbye!")

wow. Just wow

yes, the forums have gone straight downhill. And if anyone thinks it's beasue of the moderators, start taking responsibility for your own actions and wake the F up http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif I swear, the people here have the weirdest notions and priorities. Half the members cry bloody murder when there's copy protection, and then gravitate towards hacks...another portion thinks the sim belongs to the community instead of the people who own the rights, while another group thinks it's moderators that cause problems on the forums as if they are free to do and say whatever it is they want to

Who's kidding who here?
Some people are bloody children. I'd say I'm surprised but I'd only be fooling myself.

What makes this forum a place to come back to is the folks on it. If it were just airplane this or sim that, it's not worth the time. Bushranger's dad getting hurt? Way OT, but I want to know. What's going on in the lives of people (some of whom can, like any bunch of folks, get on my nerves now and then) what they think, what they find funny/sad/etc, makes this a great place to stop in. I like to share with you guys too. I took my son out to shoot .22 the other day for the first time, I know that this is a place the picture of his target would be appreciated. That plus all of the great topics about the things we have in common - which for all the flames now and then - is quite a bit.

I've been lucky that for a while I went to the EAA Oshkosh airshows for a lot of years. You know what I found? Each show I attended, the airplanes grew less interesting and the people more so. (Don't get me wrong, the airplanes were still great!) It's been the same here. If this forum goes TU, you can find me over at the Dangerdogs site.
