View Full Version : best driver nvidia 9800 gtx+ for il2 vista 64?

So when flying IL2 at night (testing new navigation in 4.10) I get some weird anoamlies.. or rather bad textures.. i guess they are visible during "daytime" as well but it is more obvious during nightmissions.. its like the colours mesh together in chunks.. almost like u have applied a filter call "comic" in Photoshop..like I run a game on 256 colors.

I have an Nvidia 9800 GTX+ and I thought it might have something to do with the drivers.. Does anybody know what version of Nvidia driver is best suited for IL2 for this card on a Vista 64? I have read that the "latest" driver is not always the best for some of the older cards..

That one might be a bit out of date, try the newest non-beta drivers for your card. I haven't had any problems in Il-2 with the latest ones with my GTX 260 or 470.

I don't really see what you mean though in that pic because it's so dark. If the drivers don't do it, try and get a good conf file and try messing with some of the settings in Nvidia Control Panel.

appreciate... i upgraded after uninstall and driversweep but i still have the same "problem" though.. it's not in conf.ini I think.. maybe it's in the nvidia control panel???

Does anyone else have this problem? looks like I run a 16bit color game, but conf.ini says 32

My conf file is below. I can post my Nvidia Control Panel settings later tonight when I'm at my home pc. Make sure to change the resolution in the conf to whatever your usual resolution is. Also avoid the joystick settings if you want to keep yours. Really the only part you want for graphics is the OpenGL part at the end.

thanx.. I will try..

got a hint from some fellow squadmembers about what could be wrong which I need to investigate further called "banding". I have a 22" Samsung Syncmaster 226BW which I was very happy with until now when I fly nightmissions. If this is true that the problem is due to the monitor, I will truly not be a happy customer to Samsung. I'll be back with reports

to further explain the issue, the picture at night is like a posterization filter almost like this but mostly blacks and greys and almost only visable on nightmissions.
