When I try to install the CD drivers or DL drivers I get this:

Setup could not detect any Sound Blaster card on your system.
Please ensure that your sound Sound Blaster Live! hardware is properly installed before running this setup program.
Setup will now exit.

There's a Legacy Audio in the Device Manager, so I assume WinXP installed it's stock drivers already. I don't get sounds though. Multimedia/Audio tells me that there is no Sound device.

Any chance to get it running? This card worked fine in another rig with SP1, and in the rig I try to install it now I ran both SB Live! Value and Audigy Player with the same drivers. But also, SP1. SP2 bug?

I do not think it's an SP2 bug.
I recognize the problem.
I've used an SB Live! Value.
(Now I've got an Audigy 2 ;-)

As far as I can remember, this is caused by an incorrect driver. (Yep, sounds strange in your case...)
But, how to get the correct driver?

That is the problem!

Verify your current SB Live! identification... via www.creativelabs.com (http://www.creativelabs.com)
You might even have need to open the case, remove the card and note it's type/model/serial numbers...

But maybe there's something else wrong here, so post your DxDiag diagnostics...

Did a lot of research and many tries to install it now. And I just come to the conclusion that there is no support for XP SP2 from Creative. I found lots of users with this problem and on the Creative boards one guy posted an e-mail he got from the Creative support that stated that there's no support for SP2 + 5.1 Digital...
I could get sound with the Windows SB Live! Series (WDM) driver, but I need the software package, especially the EAX settings and the Sourround Mixer. They just work with genuine SB drivers.
Looks like Ihave to kill the system and install SP1 instead http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

This could very well be very true.
Remember I told you I used an SB Live?
Guess it was shortly before SP2....
(But, I have seen that message! Too bad I can't remember how I worked around it)

Well, even better, get that Audigy 2...;-)

Hey, wait a minute, I've got a Dell 8100 with SB Live, ánd SP2! Not that I'm gaming with it... let me check this....

That's what the software says when I try to change settings, after installing the SB drivers from the CD.
So, I tend to think you are right....

I dont know why, but I downloaded LiveDrvUni-Pack(GER).exe (I had something else first... older...) and it works flawlessly http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif . It comes with the Sourround Mixer and AHQ, that's all I need. I remember such DL drivers for the Live! Value that were just drivers w/o software. That was bad.
I was just about to try out those kX drivers, but I won't try that anymore http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif .

You know,i had that same problem one time.It couldnt detect that i had a SB live in my system.I think i might have uninstalled sound driver, rebooted, went to creatives website and let it do the autodetect and autoupdate. It dete cts your sound card and installs the latest driver for you.It has happened to me twice,Once with my machine and once with my brothers.I would try to uninstall any sound drivers in add remove programs ,reboot and then go to creative's website
