now we can fire with our mg without trouble, but i know that mg used to explode with high temperature... so what's about it for BoB? No "newbie-2-hours-fire" and more "snipering" http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

To put such things in BoB you need the data on how much heat the gun can absorb and how fast it can dissipate it. This determines how long of a sustained firing a gun can perform. Each kind of machine gun will be different. Does anyone know where to get this information. I only have it for the M2HB(heavy barrel) which were not used on AC but for ground mounts only. This would be a nice feature for BoB as it would have poeple being careful about long firing periods.

I can hear the whining and see all the conflicting 'heat effect on mg barrels' graphs already

This effect would be a bit "├╝ber" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

But effects like gun-jamming when firing at high g-loads would be nice.

Oleg should also model a desperate rear gunner hitting his mg to try to clear a jam,and trying to cool the barrel down the 'natural' way http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Are there any known cases of guns exploding after a long burst in-flight or instructions to the pilots to limit bursts to prevent the gun from exploding?

Machinegunners on the ground do need to change barrels every x rounds but their guns' barrels aren't in a >300km/h airstream.
