Hi folks

Yesterday I started a new finnish campaign. The first mission was to start and intercept incoming russian bombers.

So much so fine. I started, intercepted the bombers, got shot into the engine during attack, the bombers fell to my collegue (AI) and the Flak, and I managed to get safely back to the airfield. (For me, that was a sucessfull mission, as I survived ...)

Well. IL2FB thinks otherwise and I have to repeat the mission.

I am not a newbie. I know, who this game works. But this type of "hanging in missions until completed" really wrecks a lot of motivation.

Is there any trick to overcome this behaviour by fondling on some "ini" settings ? I really want to go on with the campaign and do not want to play one mission over and over until the game engine is satisfied (and me not) !

Thanks for your replys

This is just a suggestion that I think has worked a few times for me, its been quite a while since I've tried it. After you've landed sit and wait, sometimes the AI may complete the mission objective.

Thanks for your reply.

Well. My buddy had some problem of his own and landed somewhere ...

But. You're right. This is one of the possibilities, but a very uncertain one. I'd like a general solution - because i rellay think it kills motivation with campaigns.

On the difficuly setting screen enable "Instant Success."

This won't work for an existing campaign though - only when you start a new one.

One of objectives in this mission is to protect your base for (I think) 20 minutes. The mission can't be completed before 20 minutes are over. Use time acceleration after the landing until you get the message.

When you start that mission again doesn´t it say Mission complete? It does this in the original Sturmovik so you can jump over missions you didn´t complete or don´t want to fly..Isn´t it the same in FB?

Thanks for your comments.

1) My game version is 1.22 currently.

2) Yes. But the "mission is complete" never appears due to unsolved targets ....

I had this happen also - but in the mission description it says - "intercept the enemy formation" but goes on to say something about visiting generals and that you are not to instigate hostile action (i am paraphrasing)
I always shoot first.. dammit! - I haven't
tried waiting for my AI lead to open fire yet - but I'm thinking that may be the problem/solution. I am not at home to try it now. Dammit! friggin'work getting in the way again.

Never? For me it appears 20 minutes after the mission starts. As I said earlier there is a "Hidden Target" in the mission to protect your base for 20 minutes. Maybe the bombers damaged your base, but as this is only a hidden target and there is no primary target in the mission you don't get a "Mission Failed" message.

Open the mission file. You can find it in \IL-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles\Missions\Campaign\FI\dgen_f_finland41XXX. The mission in my folder contains the following lines.

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>[Target]
6 2 1 20 0 228053 211263 2000<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

"20" stands for "20 Minutes", "2000" (meters) for the radius around the center of your base that must not be damaged.

The B-239 has a clock at the right side of the cockpit panel. "Mission Complete" appears at 5:20 if the base remains untouched.
