Im confused, whats your question? If it's how to speed up long flights then accelerate your timr with the ] and [ keys.

S! HOZZ,
One only has to go to your local library to understand the depth of the Pacific war. Yes some of the offline campaigns seem long. Twenty to thirty minuites for a flight in a sim game?
You got to be joking I once thought. Compared with what we virtually simulate, to the Veterans of WWII. I can only only say Thank You and God Bless. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/clap.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

no i mean how do u stand the long distance !!
and after the 20 or 30 min i got a zero on my six and am down in the the first 5 seconds of the fight !! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif i dont mind flyin for long time .. but it should be at least made as a realistic option like "short flight/long flight " right !?

somtimes i think about the bigginer simmers and am sure they wont fly the pacific fighters again if they stayed flying for 30min and got shot they will try again maybe twice but thats it they wont fly it again ..

my question is how many ppl fly the long campaigns ???

S! HOZZ,
I guess I can say that myself and my Squadron Flies long campaigns. I guess it does help if you have friends to fly with in Coops and such. We use a program called Ventrillo to communicate with each other. Plus most of our members fly quite well. So when we do get that Zero on our six, sombodies there to send em up in smoke. You are welcome to stop by our website and join us on comms if you like.
The website link is here Aces High Virtual Fighter Squadron (http://aceshigh.ws/run2/)
You just need a mic and the Ventrillo program. Leave a post on our Guestbook after you view the site, then we can go from there.
Our Squadron competes in a online war with the
Wing Walkers. That battle is usually three hours long. My little humble Campaign called "Aussie Heros" is at least a one hour flight. There are other Squadron out there who are top notch as well. check them out at
the Squadron Forums link just below the General Discussion.
If not Look for any _AH_Member and send them a message over at Hyperlobby. (A online gathering of virtual Pilots)
If you have Hyperlobby http://hyperfighter.sk/
Join us on a Coop mission and tell them "Blue" sent you! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Umm zou do know you can bind a key to the "time warp" function to go faster, and if you are tired to use the AP. I think you can edit the Dgen to get shorter distances, and DCG a 3rd party campaign generator can also shorten the distances.

About all I can stand is a one way trip of about 30 minutes to the action. If it's that distance I usually don't use the "fast forward" buttons.

For the stock Pacific Fighters campaigns, I end up with a lot of low mission counts before I give up. Those distances need more of my time than I usually have to spare.

If you can, buy the IL2:Forgotten Battles/Ace Expansion Pack to merge with your Pacific Fighters. After you patch it all up to at least 4.04, there are a lot of user made campaigns for the Pacific that have shorter flyin' times.

Here's a thread with good user made campaigns.

I gotta' agree with HOZZ. One of my favorite features of the older EAW was the "warp" button that would skip the long flight and take you straight to the action. I know some of you guys like the long flights, I do too actually, but with kids the shorter flight times fit the lifestyle better and allow simming in shorter time segments. All the bloody best, LongHorn

If you want to shorten the distances you are flying in the campaign.
Add this into the conf.ini file

MissionDistance=60

I have 60 (which I think is km.) but you can make it anything you like, 100, 40 what ever.
It doesnt mean every mission will be this short but most. Doesnt seem to work for the map where it is all ocean(cant remeber the name) but it works for most.

Wimp.

That's just for starters. Welcome away from Doom and Quake where everything happens in the first five minutes. If you can't be bothered to fly 15 or 20 minutes to contact, you have an attention deficit problem. It's not the sim, it's you. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Second, d'yer ever stop to think that maybe you just learned something? How a long (well, long to you, although not long by Pacific standards) flight distracts you, if you let it, and your vigilance suffered...and you found yourself shot down like a dweeb by the first Zero that happened by.

There are other conf.ini parameters that don't work on the Pacific side of the sim. Can't remember them all tho. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

But, some good news here, not all Pacific subcampaigns have you flying long hops. Some near the end of the war, such as Iwo Jima, have you flying extremely short hops!! Some subcampaigns, such as Okinawa, are medium distance, not too bad at all.

Actually, for Pacific DGen, MissionDistance will activate shoter(er) range version of carrier campaigns. AFAIK, though, it does not do anything to "fix" the long mission distances in New Guinea.

The way I deal with the long missions is simple:

1: run the campain with icons on

2: in the mission, after you hit the autopiolet, press M to see where the enemy is

3: depending how far away they are (pretty far), I zip up the speed to 8x

4: I go do somthing else and check back every minuet or so

5: when I'm close to the enemy, and engagment is only a few minuets away, I come back and play.

I always get long distance on all the early war carrier subcampaigns, no matter the settings.

I used to fly escort missions from England to Germany and back real time (no time acceleration or skip to next action) in EAW. Longest effort was about 8 and a half hours IIRC and I loved it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Admittedly a family can cut back on the available time but with time acceleration kicked in it's not that long really for most of the missions in this game.

Here's something I saved from a post by Starshoy on SimHQ from a few weeks back. Hope it helps:-

"OK, here is the first draft.
MissionDistance= (0-300)
In FB - prefered mission distance in km
In PF - any value means that carriers are located in shorter than historical distance on maps where it is important - Hawaii, Midway, Marianas."

I miss EAW's Alt-N as well. The time accel for PF isn't really enough especially when your gaming time is limited.

DCG is a good alternative as well .
