if you check that picture youll see that the sun glare on the camera shapes pentagons(when the sun and plane are in the same screenshot)

shouldnt it shape circles?

Camera aperture diaphragms (iris) are composed of multiple leaves. The sim is emulating a five-leaf camera diaphragm, which forms a pentagon when it's stopped down. The pentagons you see are reflections of the aperture diaphragm, not the sun.

a pentagon a symbol for the magical 5 pointed star a magical symbol used by the pitagorans, it has the golden proportions all over

did you know that the kind pitagoras was trully a bastard who murdered his disciple who discover rational numbers because it ruined his theories

why arent we teach this stuff at schools?

seems that doing something good for humanity justifies everithing

It's less like a thought process and more like Brownian motion.

Mate, its a game. Don't worry about it, Pitagoras won't murder you in your sleep, it's nothing to freak out about.

raaaid-

dbillo's explained this pretty well. Most games and game makers feel that the player wants to see something like this. This sim has modelled the camera dbillo describes

The reason that pentagrams and golden proportions are not taught in school is well...they are actually. A pentagram is just a geometric shape, and any element of mathematics, even theoretical math with the 'imaginary numbers' and things like Bayes theorem which tries to quantify intangibles with mathematics are taught in schools. But advanced math and mathematical theory are not taught in grade schools- this is a subject for higher institutions, not grade or even High School

Pythagoras' personal life ain't my business http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif All I know is that his idea for triangular mathematics works and it let me pass geometry

Magical symbols are not taught in schools because the stuff is bunk

What's a Brownie in motion?

The wheels aren't completely round either. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Simple solution: Turn it off.

Open conf.ini, under the [game] section, look for this line:
NoLensFlare=

Set it to a value of 1.
(If it's not there, add it!)

No lens flare no more, no pentathingies, no worries, no problem! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

I wish it was customizable in the options menu for BoB - either pentagons (or other camera aperture shapes) or human eye circles...

in my case like my heavy under eye circles (loud, high pitched nervous laughter)

in all honesty (and sarcasm) - those pentagons distract me, when im chasing an enemy plane...i blame 90% of my loses to those 5 tipped sun demons...

You also won't see stars in broad daylight at 20,000 feet ASL. I've been twice that high and nary a star was in sight.

Circles put a much larger load on the graphics card and framerate.
Limits of computer hardware are not a Pythagorean Conspiracy.

In Arabia some 1000+ years before Pythagoras there was already circulated a single diagram
proof of the theorem that has his name on it, all contained in one square with no words,
letters, steps or any of that needed to support it. Go turn that into something mystic.

Um, it's only modelled in camera mode in the game. If you are chasing an enemy plane from your cockpit (1st person) there is no lens flare. If not....well, you deserve all the distractions you get http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Actually, we don`t see pentagrams or circles with the naked eye. So technically we shouldn`t see anything at all while flying.

I disable it.

Very true, only the camera sees it. But it's nice for screenshots and external views
