This news just made my day, altough the game has been nominated in 7! different BAFTA categories. It wins none.

Could it be that the jury consists of PC gamers who disagree with the (extremely stupid) DRM scheme?

We will never know

www.baftagameaward.com (http://www.baftagameaward.com/awards/index.html)

The DRM might be a pita but the game itself deserves better.

And whats so special about MW2 anyway? Its another fps, its linear, scripted, short and it doesnt even have dedicated servers, pfft so weak...

Maybe Ubi will think twice next time before implementing a customer FU scheme

i dont think MW2 won for it's SP, mate. while i am much more a BFBC2 kinda guy i still think the MP is good. the SP was really fun but really nothing new or ambitious.

only one of the awards was affected by customer opinion and it was the only one won by MW2, Uncharted 2 and batman took most of them. most of these awards are done by a panel of judges so the DRM wont of even came into any decisions made.

full list of awards (nominations/winners) (http://www.bafta.org/awards/video-games/nominations-in-2010,1017,BA.html)

</div></BLOCKQUOTE>Indeed...
Plus the console version's have no DRM... since the nomination was for the game.. not the format.. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Shame it lost out, but it should not be used as 'rant' material.

So because it was decided by a panel of judges, it is not possible for them to be anti extremely-stupid-not-adding-anything-to-gameplay-or-customer-experience-or-stopping-pirates-useless DRM?

Funny, I always thought judges were human too.

It might've been the DRM, afterall Batman's DRM was extremely subtle and unless you had a cracked version, it's unlikely you'd even know it HAD a DRM.

Now THAT'S a DRM system I can live with.

judges have to take into account game play, graphics and the likes only and security system is left out as it is not a deciding factor in how good a game actually is, or if they were judging by that wouldn't the few games with no DRM of taken all the awards?

judges may be human but they still have rules they have to follow, if they were to dismiss a game because of DRM, they wouldn't keep their job much longer as they are paid for judging a game not a security system.

also by the fact the awards were handed out on the 19th judging would of happened long before then meaning the judging will of most likely been done on the console version anyway.

Might be but everybody is a bit biased in their opinion and I'm sure they knew about the DRM for the PC gamers before casting their votes

You can't convince me that a self-respecting game critic would embrace this DRM scheme of Ubisoft which criples the entire player experience.

But if I was to judge the game by the other factors (graphics, gameplay etc.) I agree that it didn't deserve any of the awards too.

personally would have been amazed that a game so new and so soon after release would win any prizes.

who follows these damn stupid awards anyway ?
i have seen games nomiated BEFORE anyones even played them.

they pander to the sheep, not the gamer.
