Did the dev team relase the correct version of the game when it went gold? What i am seeing seems more like a beta release.

The overall game is good and what it promises is superb but the attention to detail is severely lacking. An obvious rush attempt to kick the game out the door.

It was suppose to be out September 2004. Its now March 2005, hows that rushing to kick it out the door?

This game is hardly a beta release. While the nvidia bug was very sloppy they did release a semi-fix for it the day after the game was on the shelves. I have yet to have the game crash or lock up on me and I have left it running for up to 7-8 hours at a time. The people who are experiencing lock ups or CTD's need to stop overclocking their celeron processors.
In my opinion SH3 is a learning experience for the ubi-romania development team and a great time killer while we wait for what is sure to be the ultimate sub sim SH4.
If you want to play an actual unfinished, rushed, bugged out the *** game go buy Star Wars knights of the old republic 2, a game which has yet to recieve a single patch from the developers.

Yep thats right! The delay was supposedly for including the dynamic campaign. Its been six months since the original scheduled release, plenty of time to test and iron out any bugs. Seems to me the testing part got swept under the rug.

Seems to be happening to most games these days - nobody takes pride in their work anymore!

Gizmostar, could you please provide me a list of critical, game-breaking bugs, so that when I go home tonight and play SHIII for three hours straight with absolutely no problems, I have reasons to take the game back (and make my wife happier)?

Thank you,

The Management

Sadly it seems that UBI is having a tremendous track record of releaing games with bugs then swearing there will eb a fix etc. Its totally reckless. The reason this si accepted is because people wont stand up with reviews that are accurate and continue supporting developers that distribute this way. I remember when it was a death sentence to release with known problems. Sadly thats changed.

I have been looking at this with more interest. But the fact that its got Ubi's name attached to it make me less likely to purchase it no matter how good it is.

I second the motion for what scharmers just said. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I seriously can't think of any computer games that didn't have a bug that needed to be fixed. Anyone else out there can can think of one? Maybe Doom didn't need a patch...I don't really remember. That was a very simple game compared to what we have now. Computer games aren't console games where everyone has the same system and they can can optimize the game for it because they know exactly what the system can do.

Almost all games wind up with bugs that need to be fixed. The more complicated games get, the more problems can crop up. The thing is, every single game that comes out, I see a minority of people complaining about how bug ridden, crappy, rushed, and unfinished the game is. The vast majority of people are having no problems at all. Perhaps the problem doesn't lie in the game. Maybe the problem is the loose nut behind the keyboard. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Now that I've said that, seriously, if tons of people aren't having the same problem, then it most likely isn't the game. It's probably a hardware or software conflict with something in your system. Ask if lots of people are having the problem, and perhaps someone else will be able to help you. If you step in here for the first time, and all you want to do is rant about how bad it is, don't expect people to be polite or helpful.

I played over 25hours this weekend with no problems.

The game is very much complete with little to no major bugs IMHO but there are ALOT of half baked commands and features in the cfg files that we might get in the next few patches. Although I dont see that as the game being unfinished on release...

I would be interested in seeing the "so called" list that this guy and others have created?

The buggiest game ever has to be Hidden and Dangerous (original) €" but I still play the game because the Game Play game play was great and the graphics were ahead of there time. So lets not loose or head and let Ubi have a chance to fix a few of the bugs, I think we should appreciate that they have built a game we all wanted, with great possibilities (SH4)
Most people are having a great time getting used to the game, if they are lucky enough to have it. So lets just play around and give Ubi good accurate feed back on what needs to be fixed €" but lets first look and the buggiest thing Ubi has to deal with. US

Cheers

I almost forgot about Hidden and Dangerous...I never played more than the 2nd mission because even though the game could have been cool it still just had too many issues for me to enjoy it really. That could have been an awesome game!

Please... it is really so difficult to accept that just because you have had no problems, nobody else has? Many people have experienced lock-ups and crashes with 3GHz plus P4s and Athlons.

"Beta" ? No.. but (much I enjoy this game) only the worst kind of fanboi could claim it has no bugs. A patch (or semi-fix, as you say),within a couple of days of release is NOT a good sign in that respect. Its "curing" at least some of the stuff found by testers AFTER the game went gold... i.e it was rushed out to meet the date. Hardly uncommon these days, I'll admit.

I agree its sad that it has become common practice to release games with bugs and inadequate testing. It's gotten so bad that even console games are starting to ship with noticeable bugs.
Even if it is obvious the game was released without adequate testing it is nice to see that the developers actually care about what the community thinks and is already working on problems with the game and implementing features that were left out which is alot mote than I can say for some development teams out there.

All I can say to those who have lockups and bad problems with even high spec comps....quit d/ling porn!Get a spyware/adware remover, clean up your comp and maybe just maybe it will run right. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
