Can anyone please advise how to pass the fire in the stairwall at police station in the first mission? I have only discovered this game recently.

I betting that you'r stuck where there is a big hole in the floor blocking you'r path. If you look up, you'l see a pipe. Just jump up, and you should automaticaly grab onto it.
