Just thought I would share with the community that my wife gave birth to our first child - a healthy and of course beautiful baby daughter (Imogen Anne) on Sunday 18 July at 0507 GMT, weighing in at 7lbs 6oz.

Guess my problems getting connected to HL to fly online pale into insignificance for the moment...

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

Crazyivan - thanks. It's all very frightening but exciting too.

My wife is taking to parenthood like a duck to water. I'm taking to it like a duck to orange sauce!

Bear in mind that the Firstborn is almost always a perfect, or at least quiet, well behaved baby. It's Nature's way of sucking you into having more.

That said, there is nothing more worthless than a man who is grossed out by changing his own child's diapers, or skimps on the cleaning or proper fastening parts of the process. You will score more points with your wife if you can tackle this chore competently and cheerfully than you ever did with a bouquet of flowers.

cheers

So you think pedophiles and heroine junkies are far more acceptable than a father with a weak stomach?

Wiping my own rear makes me queasy. I guess I'll just avoid becoming a parent at all cost. I surely don't want anyone calling me worthless.

Congrats Prangerman.
