in my opinion explosions are too long lasting, like gasoline bombs or such. in real, like TNT explosion, its one quick flash, after it there is only some smoke and depris or dust, depends where the explosion happened. also, 20 and 30mm cannon explosions at target are too big, i mean aircraft hits and such, huge fireballs. 30mm cannon hit looks like 5 kg TNT explosion in size http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif is it possible to fix this at least at on bob?

what guys think about this? i dislike Hollywood explosions, i prefer quick flashes, looks much more violent and real.

I have never seen what an MK108 does when you git the ground with the ammunition except for what we see in Il2. A while back there were no large explsions with the 108 or 103 but now there is. I think that the explosions are a bit large and Hollywoodized for the relatively small size of the HE charge. Maybe Oleg has seen what these rounds are actually capable of and these explosions are historic. I would love to know if these rounds were really that powerful or not.

They're probably pretty realistic. If you go to this site: http://guncam2002.tripod.com/ and look at the video five rows down in the first column, you'll see a vid of a spit being shot at by 20MM cannons with the spinning tracers and all that. The German pilot is a horrible shot but toward the end you see a 20MM hit home and it makes a pretty big explosion. I figure the 30MM explosion would be even bigger.

I agree with the initiate poster. I've seen several explosions in RL during my army time serving as a combat engeneer. A quick flash and a lot of dust, thats all.

@Big Bear.: I agree, but as you can see there is no big fireball, only smoke. The fireballs in IL2 explosions look unrealistic. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

yea Flieger, nice that we got here someone else too who has been toying with explosives ;D

now those explosions look like lousy quality firecracker bombs, explosion cloud/flash in game has even longer duration than black powder firecracker bombs http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_redface.gif

A little fireball animation costs less in CPU/VPU performance than smoke. Its a consideration like that that gives us the effects we have.

FB does do a considerable amount of smoke...more than I've seen in other games. But its just not effective yet to implement lots of smoke yet.

from what I've seen - it depends on what is exploding. Doesn't it?

If a load of gasoline explodes - you get a big fireball and some heavy smoke along with a kindof a Whoosh of pressure.

If a load of TNT goes off - you get a flash and a heavy punch...etc etc...so I dont know where you can take this thread unless you want more varied types of explosions and that will cause alot more code to be written for this ol' program.

and about incendiary rounds, why those make such big fireballs without making anything to burn, I-ammo doesnt look realistic and doesnt much work in this game. while in real like most of the kills in A-A combat ended when enemy AC caught on fire. not in this game. well, i just want game to be like real :P
