Hey,

First of all i'd like to say what a great community this is, full of helpful people, being a CS player its nice to see it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

1). Firstly, am i the only 1 who dosent use time compression atall during patrols, but rather do the whole thing in real time? Obviously not sit there for 24 hours straight, but make it last a few days/weeks as opposed to hacking around at MK2 completing each patrol in 30 mins to an hour? I find it more fun, more rewarding when you find that ship youve been hunting down, and theres alot more tension to the game doing it this way. If it didnt take several days to get to the patrol grid, i would do that in real time aswell http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif. I just wondered if there was anyone else who played like me?.

2). Secondly, i feel rather lucky myself, out of all the bugs mentioned here, ive only come across two. One of which was the diving but your watch crew stay on the bridge (which is actually rather amusing seeing your watch crew scanning around at 50m), you can also press F4 and go to the bridge yourself underwater, its so pretty http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif. This bug is rather common and fixed in the latest patch. However the second bug i came across, i have not seen mentioned, so allow me to add it to the list http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

Whilst doing my first patrol, i had a few officers with qualifications in watchman, mechanist, torpedo, sonar etc etc which is perfectly normal. However roughly half way through the patrol, i press F7 to see who of my men were tired, to find i had two men, both qualified with watchmen skills. Now at first i thought this was some sort of ingame promotion for those petty officers that do a job for a long time often, but he had exactly the same stats, and name of my original watchman officer. I dont even know which the real one is lol, i seem to have somehow duplicated him. Anyone come across this problem?

Any replies appritiated

I didnt use time compression at first. It takes too many days to see anything! I saw one of my tugboats. Took 3 days to even see that! Realistically it would take all of WWII to complete the campaign!

i use time compression, not enough patience http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif but its good to see someone who has. think of your second watchman as his twin brother lol
welcome to the forum!

Does the second one has a black goatee like all generic evil parallel dimension equivalents? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I would be suspicious of this guy. Use the other bug and let him wait outside when you dive. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

You must be refering to the Evil, err, Eviler Bender! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

BTW Frolick7, if you're playing with near 100% realism as well that would be Ironman. But I'll tell you right now, my first patrol I completed from start to finish. What I mean is I left Kiel and returned after my patrol to the exact subpen I left. I even backed the sub in! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif And I didn't even hit anything!! That patrol lasted about 18 days in game time. So if you plan on using no TC, one patrol will take you a very long time!

No time compression? Hard. Core.

I sometimes switch to 4x while I watch my torps go to the target, I'm that impatient to see the 'splosion. Of course when they bounce off... it's dissappointing

Thanks for the welcome guys http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I have all realism items ticked except "gods eye" and manual targeting, im working on that aspect out of campaign and will put it on soon no doubt http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

Funny thing about my 2 duplicated brothers are they both called Adolf, all they gotta do is sink me to win the war http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif.

Dont suppose any of you know if that volume dial when manually using the hydrophone works? i cant turn it. Also im hearing a ship on there that my sonar guy wont pick up, any ideas? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif.

the volume does not turn... click on top of the knob for volume up, and bottom of knob for volume down http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif sometimes he will not pick them up, cuz he is stupid i guess http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif i'm not sure if this is a bug, or i'm doing something wrong....

and no time compression? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif that could get kinda... boring imo

the real uboat captains had crews to talk to, go out on the deck for doing some watching on his own... and other things... here, ure just staring at a screen...

just my imo... to each his own i guess

Well, taking into account that i have a life besides playing Silent Hunter, i sure use time compression! It already takes about 3-4 hours realtime to complete a patrol as it is! I want to actually play this game and not use it as a screensaver. But whatever get's you going, buddy. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Zero time compression here (still on my first patrol, only halfway across the North Sea after seven+ days in real time).

I can do without time compression only if my watch officer looks like Pamela Anderson and she is naked and my U-boat looks like a Night Club then I have a lot of things to do http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
