View Full Version : Best "Sharkmouth Ever?"

This is it!

http://images.fotopic.net/yvtl4r.jpg

To my mind captures the "Sharkmouth" as a predator. As opposed to a Cartoon character. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Could do with being different colourscheme though!

That one looks very nice, but I still think the sharkmouth looks best on the P-40:

It's a nice paintscheme, but the intake on the P-40 really lends itself to the sharkmouth. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

What aircraft is that anyways? The nose and cockpit are similar to that on the 109, but the rest is off.

There were a number of pretty good B-24s with shark mouths as well...
All of these were from the 308th BG

I'd have to agree with this one. There is just something about an A-10 that says "Lean, and Mean, I need a sharkmouth". A bit like the good old P-40, only 30mm better. I like it on the F-4 Phantom II, but it isn't essential. On the A-10, it's essential; it just belongs.

WeedEater9p

Yeah, any A-10 without teeth just looks wrong.

cool! makes the Flying Brick look like a sort of uber barracuda.

Word has it that historically the RAAF had the teeth first in the western desert (whether they were shark teeth or tiger teeth I don't know); then the AVG in China used them as tiger teeth (Chennault's flying Tigers)

P-40 MMmmm.... Wasn't it more based on "Tigermouth" I.E "Flying Tigers", Aluetian Tiger"? Just a thought.
I agree it lends itself well to the open Maw. But No Shark http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Pretty sure the first 'shark mouthed' P-40s were RAF ones from 112Sqn.
They took the idea from Bf110s similarly marked and then AVG took it from them.

Well, the thread title is about the best sharkmouth ever...the P-40 may not have been the first - but that slab-sided cowling design just begs to have teeth painted on it:

For me, P-40 wins this category hands down.
