This happens with the following aircraft:
F6F
F4F
FM2
Bf.109 (all versions)

Not sure if there's any more but these are the ones that I've seen it happen.

When firing, the gunsight flickers in size from the huge fills the gunsight to the normal fills half the gunsight.

This only happens on Perfect mode and happens on Catalyst 5.1 and 5.6. Excellent mode is alright. Are others seeing this problem?

I have nvidia 6800 card and keept seeing all kinds of disappearing textures. The problem is GONE as soon one switches to perfect from exellent. So theory of graphic card drivers to be blamed SEEMS to be false, as u have ATI card and bugs r gone after switching to perfect from exellent.

It showed up in 4.0 (I never tested the betas) so I figured that it had to be something in the game.

I have a Radeon 9700Pro BTW.

I have seen ''my'' kind of bugs in beta 04. Then in 4.0 ''leaked'' and still in ehmm official-bugs-free http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif 4.01. Well we c here a problem common to everything 4.xx and common to both kinds of graphic cards BUT uncommon to 3.04. Someone's claims on the issue r wrong here...

No but I have this one. (I did not try cat 5.6 yet. Still running 5.4.)

Got the same, 5.5 Cats on 9800. Since 4.0. But just sometimes... I think it happens when ships or flak shoot...

Yes, gladly it only happens sometimes, but I don't need flak to get this error http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif.

I've got a 9700Pro, and saw nothing like that in 4.0 with cat 5.4, Now I have 4.01 with Cat 5.6, and have not seen anything like that either. I spend most of my time in the Navy cats too, so I think I would have noticed that problem.

Its specifically the Hellcat, the 109, the Wildcat (all versions). But that does cover most of the navy birds yes.

Excellent or Perfect mode for you?

I used to have some issues with textures if swapping between video modes. Cat 5.6 seems to have sorted it all out - I've not seen any issues with 4.01 and Cat 5.6 (touch wood).

5.6 cats here on a x800pro and I haven't noticed anything unusual with the gunsights in either ecxellent or perfect.

Not really sure what you mean though.

Is it only the reticle that flickers/changes size?

I'm almost 100% certain that you are aware of shif+f1 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

Unlikely, I know, but could it be some kind of key/controller conflict?

I had the exact same thing happen as you've shown but in 3.03 IIRC.

I never used to get it looking skywards, though...just a 'sector'of the screen disappeared when looking at the ground.

IIRC, it was because I tried the latest Nvid. drivers for my Ti4200. When I went back to the recommended ones, it went away.

Ta,
Norris

If you have an Nvidia card then I highly recommend the 66.93 or 67.66 drivers.... I actually have a pretty decent view of things now that I rolled back my drivers. Hopefully Nvidia will come out with some betterones in the future that will correct the problem. I had the transparent panel thing going on.

I've got ATI.

Its cross the graphic card boundaries. We've got nVidia and ATI people with the same problem.

I've actually got a few instances of odd graphical corruption. I will post later.

Why not in the bugs thread Ice http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Also, did you report it to pf@1c.ru?

I've managed to reproduce this with 4.01 over 4.00. I reinstalled PF then patched to 3.04 then 4.01 and have not seen it yet. Report to ATI also if you can.

Interesting.

How should I go about going back to 3.04 and then back to 4.01?

VW-IceFire

I haven't done the re-install yet but going from 4.01, installing the 3.03 patch, then reinstalling the 4.01 patch has no effect. I'll try a fully reinstall when I've cleared some stuff up first.

Well I took the plunge.

Backed everything up. Saved all my WIP missions.

Uninstalled, deleted, and removed all traces of FB+AEP+PF on the system. It was quite a purge. Reinstalled from scratch. Problem has gone away...

Other issues with textures being corrupted I have yet to test but I suspect they are gone as well. Steve, once again, you were right. Something was leftover from 4.0. Cheers!

I agree completely.
I have 66.93 and they are doing a good job for me.

I had 7x.xx (don't remember exactly which ver.) and I had some weird messages when trying to load Gulf Of Finland map. (about missing textures and such).

I reverted to 66.93 and never looked back.

When nVidia finally make something new that is IL-2 stable/compatible, I may convert to that. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I guess maybe ATI guys also must find their stable version too.http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

No really, Ice, have you tried to experiment a bit with the different driver ver.?

I've got some of the same and others, I think only with mirrors ( Hi and low Res), because its OK without. Have some screenies, but no idea how to upload. F4F has the sight where mirror is, . Use 9700pro like you.

Edit: Just noticed you reinstalled, maybe my trouble is I did the 2 file uprade from 4.0 to 4.01, to save on 56k, looks like a night of downloading 4.01 for me to.

Extra Edit: Found some aircraft have graphics issues, in the cockpits, like extra parts of
instruments, mirrors, ground detail, clipping. I have Catalyst 5.6 drivers, with 9700 pro
Video card, AMD Barton 2800xp. Some aircraft I have noticed with this since 4.01m are:-
F4F series
F4U series
Hawk 81
Tomahawk series
LA7 series
IAR81 series (this one really showed off the instruments glitch)
Spitfire series
Seafire series
P47 (Lost views completely with this one)
P51c, only, other models no mirrors
Hurricanes

Only in gunsight view can you see properly, other non-zoomed and zoomed views are
effected, outside is OK, with no issues, other aircraft are OK. Thought it might have been a carry-over from the 4.00 beta, so I did a complete uninstall/reinstall, and patched to 4.01, Retested today, but the graphics glitches are still present.

My conclusion is it's anything with mirrors present, but not sure if it's a bug or graphics card/driver issue. Be glad to hear from someone who knows for sure.
