please please can we have gun jams a la european air war .. circa 97
it would be nice to have this feature for pilots who spray and pray.
i think it would be a great idea. instead of taking off emptying ammo and return to base. u might have to head back early cause of a jam
thanx

Agreed. Best posted in ORR where I can agree with you again!

*bump* for the idea. Good one. Also it would be nice to add a few 'cosmetical' features, like one when you're "heavily wounded" that you eventually black out (it would be like your plane's on fire -- just slow goin' http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/59.gif) and such...

Id rather see barrel meltdown for the spayer and prayers. Which would cause the next round to explode in the chamber thus causeing major damage to that area that the gun is in.

Also runaways would be cool. Thats when the barrel heats up to much and causes the next round to keep firing and so forth

For those that don't know...presently the only gun jams are caused by damage. Either flak, or bullets, or any sort of splash damage. That can cause the guns to jam by physical destruction. However, no guns currently jam because the barrels are too hot or the gun randomly jams...that sort of thing.

Spitfires were a real handful if a cannon jammed as anyone who tried to fire with only one Hispano working knows.

Mustang B/C guns jammed in higher G manuvers because of the placement of the guns in the wing.

This is a feature I would expect to see in BoB. Obviously the features would be custom tailored to each aircraft.

Crashing online as :FI:SpinyNorman

Normally Spiny Norman was wont to be about
twelve feet from snout to tail, but when Dinsdale was depressed Norman could be
anything up to eight hundred yards long.

I can see it now...

You must be some sort of ignorant fool! First you nerf the 190D-9 by making it a cow, and now you make it's guns jam an unacceptable amount of times! It can clearly be seen by this low-quality and ultimately meaningless chart that the guns jammed only 10.23 percent of the time, but after numerous tests which I have made, I found the guns jam an alarmingly high 10.25 percent! Please change this!

P.S. Please model jamming in the LA-7 in the patch (in two weeks!). I find it hard to believe that it's lack of jam modelling was 'an oversight.'"

This sounds like a great idea, and I can only think of one unexpected drawback (in SP): the AI loves to lay down 20 second streams of lead, making the chances of their guns jamming much higher than a human's. In a worst case scenario, this may cripple the AI in a SP campaign, and those guys need all the help they can get. Of course, tweaking the AI could be an easy task in this case.

In MP this would be great, especially as instant karma for those who don't lean off the guns.

If you make gun jams, make sure it is something that can be selected off and on. I have a large family and don't get much time to play so I don't want to spend half my time playing with a freakin' gun jam. It is a game, albeit a darn good one. Let's not kluge it up.

You want gun jams, quit pressing the trigger. The damage modeling is already annoying enough as it is.
