I,ve owned FB/PF for a while now, but I finally got everything in place to play it properly (x800xt, hotas, trackir, etc.)

all I,ve ever done is dabble with TO/landings, some gunnery practice, etc. - but now I'm ready to leap into a full career campaign (off-line).

I'm looking for an immersive campaign - starting at the lowest rank - either as a German fighter pilot on the Russian front or as a USAAF fighter in the Pacific.

Are the Campaigns that come with the game acceptable, or is it worth purchasing/downloading a third party campaign?

Any recommendations/suggestions would be appreciated.

The DGen campaigns in the PTO are great. You can configure it in advance to tweak the ability to make it more or less dynamic. And you can also select your plane progression. I flew an all Grumman PTO campaign in 4.05 and it was great (F4F-3, then -4, then F6F-3, then -5 - I removed those over budget, over priced, over deadline, over hyped, over popular, hose-nosed ensign eliminators from my campaign. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif ).

Actually, the DGen campaigns in the ETO are good too, just that you can't have them be dynamic in the same sense, that is, the Soviets can't lose (where as the Japanese can win in the PTO if you tweak it right and perform well enough, or poorly enough, depending on which side you fly - and that is soooo cool. I wish that was retro-fitted to the ETO stuff).

However, if you have '46, try the new static campaigns. So far I've flown Burning Streak, which is EXCELLENT, but short (way too short) and am now flying The Rebel, which is also truly excellent.

I've just updated my Disaster on the Frontiers (http://mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&file=details&id=1763) Eastern Front DGen campaign set with the 4.06 planes and objects. It's more detailed than the original, with redesigned templates and improved briefings. A full war career would last you a while...

I like the early war wake campaign in PF - I've played it several times and always have a blast. Get used to looking down at alot of blue though http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I've only made it all the way through one campaign. Most times they crash or I lose interest or something. But, I made it all the way through the Il-2 campaign from the Forgotten Battles version. Starting out in I-153's, finally getting the early version of the Il-2 (what a relief to get out of the I-153 crate!). The single seat Il-2 is one of the best planes in the sim, IMHO. Then flying all the way through the various improved Il-2's, until finally one day, I'm heading to attack the Berlin airport. Very immersive.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
