View Full Version : "Requiem":Still the best video, imho.BROADBAND required!

I just sat back and watched this video again....There are some Fantastic videos being made from IL2:FB these days, yet although "Requiem" was one of the earliest IL2 videos, it still ranks as the Very Best, in my humble opinion. Editing, story line, music..the whole package.

It's worth seeing again, for sure...and should be a treat for any newcomers to IL2:FB.

This is a Low Res version. The recommended 25Mb version is viewable at my Site(see Sig Block Below...follow Site links for "Movies", then Requiem25Mb, etc)

If video pauses/halts due to buffering, wait a second or three, then use controls to re-start.

Is there a download link somewhere for the 25MB version?

You can view the 25MB version on my site, as I mentioned in the first post. If you want to download, rightclick on the view window/movie when playing and select "properties"...then copy the URL location shown, put in your browser, and it will Play/Stream/Download to your Windows Media Player. In Windows Media player, you simply select Edit, then "Save Media As.." and you have it on your Hard Drive.

Sounds more complicated than it is. I can't offer a Downloadable Zipped version right now.

definatly my favorite.
Its one of the things i show people when i am "introducing" them to il2/fb.
Its probably what started the whole video making craze, certainly got me interested.

3 cheers for requiem.

Hi OberstWiley,

Found your site....very nice site btw.

The 'Requiem' video is very moving, especially how the 190's disappear as they are downed. Also, I liked the shots of the 190 clipping the wing off the pe-8.

Thanks for posting.

Great video! How did you accomplish the shot where the plain flys into the camera as it skids into the snow? Was that just a perfectly produced F3 view? Other than lining up the F3 view perfectly I can't think of another way to catch that shot. I've had some great water slide crash instances where that view would be fun.

probably used a static camera. The shot was likely planned ahead of time, he would have gotten someone to shoot him up, then crashlanded by the static cammera.

my opening combat scene, i got 2 ai fws to chase me by a static camera, took forever get them to chase by the camera, but if you have a shot planned out, you can do pretty much anything.

Could be from a fortuitously placed static camera... Very nice effect how they blend that into one of the fade to black transitions. I especially like the series where the fighter is going down, and lops off the wing of the bomber. Reminds me of that sad sad scene in the movie Memphis Belle.

I am learning from the 3 movies, namely Requiem, Snow and fire and the one with Guano apes. the Requiem always brings tears to my eyes when I watch it. I still think that if there were an Oscar for a short film made on a game, this will be it.

I have already planned a few movies-"The defence of Sofia"(working title), and a series of "Aircraft portraits", but I guess it will be a while till I complete them.

"All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,

A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king."

hello

I found the music and the movie very moving and they went together perfectly to great effect.

I have never seen the movie before or your site but I know my dad will appeciate them both very much when he gets back.

I ask if there is a place where it is possible to download it as I think it is worthy also of a permanent place on his PC ?.

Thanks for any help.

Well, it was definetly one of the the totally best 'dramas under six minutes'. Kind of a standard bearer. But since the relase of FB, there have been some totally cool new movies that are at least as good or better technically/story wise.

Some of my friends liked that totally cool NYD by (Shultze & Schulze) better. My dad and I liked movies about 'real people' the best, like Forgotten Heroes by(Hangar 18,NTESLA,THX-1138),Red Tailed Angels by (Sunstar Entertainment, Diamond Star Studios, Red Diamond Productions) and The White Rose of Stalingrad by(Silver Triggers). My Mom likes those water combat shorts by PDog1.
It just bolis down to personal prefernece I guess.

There are over seventy movies in 12 catergories on my picks lists. Hauptman99's Movie picks here.
http://www.sunstarentertainment.maddsites.com/il2homepagehauptman99.html

You can get this and most other movies in the FB commmunity on CD for FREE at Sunstar Entertainment here.
http://www.sunstarentertainment.maddsites.com/il2homepage.html

There are also movies for viewing at France Simulations here.
http://france-simulation.com/

They have done ALOT for the FB movie community too in Europe. They have had more than 500,000 hits on the videos hosted by their site. They have also shown many of the community movies at airshows to the general public, expanding the reach of the movies to a totally new audience!

This is awesome guys so keep making new movies so that I can put them on my picks lists. Thank you.

Hauptman99,

Thank you for the compliment. At this moment I am working on my next 'short' film that will not disappoint you. IL2 film making made a comunity within another comunity, just like the skin makers and the technical historical goers. I have seen great changes and unique additions to this new hobby since this movement started with Ubisoft's contest earlier this year.

Excellent film. Really first class. As it started I though "this looks like it might be another GE Uber film where they destroy all comers without a scratch," like the IL-2 Film compettion winner also by I/JG54, but as the story unfolded in this one I could see it was much much more than that.

FelT very emotional by the end!

Well done.

I make a point to watch this movie every day. I always wonder how they get kills with such little effort!! One burst and they're downed. Not usually the case with IL2
