Helo gentelmans.
I have a real problem,and i'm seeking your help:
I am the "proud" owner of an worn-out "dboeder" usb joystick who will, sooner or later, push me to comite suicide,and/or to kill my pc(of corse, before) http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif.So,in order to prevent such a "waste" http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I come to a decision to buy a new one.I start to scratch my (already) empty pockets and those are the joisticks available/afordable for me:
-microsoft SideWinder precision 2(w/o force feedback) at 28 euro
-logitech WingMan Extreme 3d Pro at 36 euro
-thrustmaster Top Gun fox 2 at 26 euro
-thrustmaster Top gun fox 2 pro at 34 euro
-And the last, but the most expensive Top Gun afterburner II at 53 euro (i belive this one will remain only a dream for me...)
I read some topics here about some of those models, but far for enlightning me,I am now even more confused...due the large variety of opinions.I must say that this will be a major investition for me(any model will require more than 3/4 from my monthly salary...and I have to live in the real life too http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif).So if I will buy now a joystick I will have to use him for at least 1.5-2 years....that is the problem.
I was atracted by the sidewinder, but i read that is rather a "soft" joistick..and it have only 4 buttons.I always like an "harder" joystick.
I did a search online for infos, but I choose not to trust so much in the producers reviews(now, any merchant will try the best to sell his product,no?).And now I am asking the help of this community, and I will trust more your opinion.
Please, try to help me,any comments will be highly apreciate.
(sorry about my english skills too)

Of those listed the Microsoft will probably last longest.

Have you considered Saitek? The Cyborg 3D Gold or the Evo should be in the same price range, and the X45 HOTAS unit is excellent value for money.

As for which one works best, that is and will remain a matter of personal opinion. My housemate loves joysticks that I can barely fly with, and vice versa.

If at all possible, try all your candidates and buy the one that feels best for YOU!!! It doesn't really matter what I think of a Microsoft if you can't fly with one.

Thanks.Unfortunaltly, the X45 it is unavailable here.I must choose from the list above. And I cannot try those sticks,(here, if you buy,you cannot change your mind...sad http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif).
It is really true that sidewinder is a soft stick?..I belive this still keeping me away for him...

Eu am un Logitech Extreme 3D PRO de la Flamingo si sunt f multumit de el
http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/mockface.gifMai e si varianta cu Top Gun 2 care am auzit ca e destul de bunicel. In plus ai throtle detasabil deci e mai confortabil.
Personal iti recomand Logitechul http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Cheers, Zbu.

I soundly suggest you take the chance to still find a Microsoft joystick on the market (they don't make them any more) and get the Microsoft SideWinder precision 2.

Personaly, i don't like it, but my reasons are the same as the ones mentioned by Tully, or in other words, i can't make any use of it because i'm used to other sort of joysticks.

But you however, you don't have bad habits, wich means that you'l be able to make a much better use of the joystick than i possibly could.

Trust me on this one.
Go for the Microsoft and don't look back.

Cheers.

*atention*
Note that i haven't mentioned my joystick to not lead you in that direction for the wrong reasons.
When i'm giving you the advice to get the microsoft joystick, i mean it for your own sake, so that you can own a truly good joystick that hardly ever will be prone to give you any problems. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Whatever you do don't buy the Logitech http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/51.gif
(I did - Logitech Wingman Strike Force 3D) I do hear people say they are good sticks - I myself experienced they dont have any center at all resulting in a plane that can't fly straight http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif and yes I did try change the slider profile in game...

I would take the Microsoft, although I like the Saitek X45 and Saitek cyborg evo i'm playing with now very much http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif - can't you buy one online ? the evo is in your price range...

First, let me thank you for helping me.Indeed, the final decision will be between sidewinder and logitech extreme 3d pro. After reading all your posts,I will probably take the sidewinder, athough it had only 4 buttons, unlike the logitech stick(it had 12 buttons).Stiil not made my decision yet,(I will buy my new stick in a couple of days, when I will be paid...).Untill then, any other oppinion will be highly apreciated. Thanks again...this is a great comunitty..About geting the saitek online:I don't have the opportunity to do it,and the import taxes will, probably, raise his price a lot.

Hold on there! I have a MS Sidewinder P2 and it has 8 buttons, 1 trigger and 3 surrounding the hatswitch, plus 4 more on the base near the throttle. While it is soft, it is also accurate, and extremely reliable. The only problems I ever had were self-induced.

It is also somewhat programmable, altho I never got that carried away. MS sticks are increasingly rare, so I'd get it if I were you.

cheers

You're such a nice bunch of fellows... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif.
So I made a confusion...indeed the sidewinder had 8 buttons!!!(i saw the four buttons at the base of the stick..never think that it has to be some triggers as well..lol! I'll pay more attention to the pictures.. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif).Seem that sidewinder is worth.
thanks

Don`t buy Logitech! One guy from India spent 4/5 of his monthly salary on the Legitech Extreme FFB and he had problems after a week of usage.

Microsoft sticks are very good, however,I`d recommend TM Fox 2 Pro.It`s great quality.

You can also set the handle resistance which is a big comfort. No other sticks have this.
