Sometimes when I get a call about a contact, I like to study what it is, and whether I€ll make a Surface or Submerge or Deck gun attack on it. No problem, that€s pretty standard. The game system tells me ship sited and asks me what I want to do. I always select to maintain last orders with course and speed. Problem is when the Watch Officer is on deck. When I give the orders to maintain last orders I hear these pooping noises. I go up on deck confused. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif Is someone shooting at me? Where are those white flashes coming from? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

I go to the deck gun and it€s manned with someone shooting at my contact. And without my permission. Worst part is that the shots are all over the horizon. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Thanks Watch Office for ruining my setup€¦.. and my ammo€¦..again. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif Now they know I€m out here. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

Has this happened to anyone else?

I€m sure I€ve lost a quarter of my rounds on that Watch Officer. Now I have to make a conscience effort to always keep him in the forward torpedo room or in quarters as a replacement for a warned out useful Officer. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

yeh, happens me alot. but only AFTER i man the deck gun. you must be cruising with the gun manned? Plus, every time you order your watch officer to shoot at a ship, his orders change from "hold fire" to "fire at will". it stays like that. so you have to change the deck guns orders to "hold fire" after u have sunk the vessel.

otherwise he'll start shooting.everytime.

He's probably firing because you instructed the deck gun to Fire at Will... Change the orders from the officer to Hold Fire if you do not want him to fire.

No, I've only really experienced this once, but I think that was because I had 'marked' the target vessel using the binos.

It is a standard practice of mine to 'prepare decks for action' prior to manually engaging targets using the deck gun, and my gun crew + watch officer are as good as gold!

Okay guys where do you go to tell them to "hold fire"? I didn't know you could do that, did I miss something very obvious?

Click on the Watch Office picture. Select the Deck Gun icon from the menu that comes up. All your deck gun options are there. Same for the flak gun.

Happy hunting!
