Well this has taken some work to produce, shot at 8mb per Image, this Picture took some work to build as it contains no fewer than 6 separate shots to build the view you see from seat to an eye level look through the windscreen.

I have reduced this image down to post it and it is still big, the full one is some 7.7MB in size as a Jpeg and measures 3417 by 5684 pixels in size so you scan literally scan around it and read all the gauges......... If ssomeone wants a copy please PM me an email address ( DONT POST IT ON HERE ) and I will see what I can do...

Anyway I hope you approve of the Small version, it took me 7 hours to stretch and assemble this with everything hopefully seamless... I hope you do not mind me posting such a big image.

Enjoy

Nice pic, though not to be nit picking but if it was still flyable it would at least for me feel weird not to have the gun sight in it. Got to look at the spit pit at this years Thunder Over Michigan air display, waited for too many years for those to finally fly in but it was worth it. Dang I wish I could fly those!

Seems like with a little 3d photography, it wouldn't be too hard to make that cockpit appear operational. Cut down on all that modeling time too. I'm no programmer but it seems that would be easier than modeling it.

Really a fantastic picture!

One thing that amazes me is that the propeller looks as small as in IL-2! I would have thought it looked quite bigger from the cockpit.

It looks like a 5-bladed propeller, so I assume this is a Pr XIX?

It is very much flyable, indeed it will be at Duxford again on the second of September...

Skarpol yep it is a 5 blader and a PR X1X, hence no Gun sight, pressurised cabin(no side door) and a wrap around unarmoured windscreen http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Glad you all like it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif was worried about posting such a big picture.........Feathered have modified the post title for you http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Absolutely Brilliant TT... Fantastic photo and fantastic work putting it all together...

All I need do now is to build a Time Machine, put you in it with your camera, a pencil and paper and a tape measure, send you back to Westlands, circa 1940 and drop you in a newly built Whirlwind Cockpit and let you do your stuff, pop you back here in time for lunch and sling the whole lot at Oleg... Job Done! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Wonderful shot, TT. Is that a rocker switch on the control column and is it for the brake system?

The rocker switch is for guns. Top/bottom = m.g./cannon (or vice versa) and can be pushed in the middle for both - or in this case probably for camera control. The brakes are operated by the lever at the rear of the spade grip, poking up to just behind the rocker switch and in front of the compass.

Beautiful photo!

Thanks, I had assumed as this was a PR version there would be no gun switch on the spade grip. Camera switch makes sense.

Thanks TT, it appears that Spitfire has the same bug as IL2
