Hi guys!

I am currently skippering the USS Growler in June 1943 playing stock but on the highest difficulty level and was selected for a photo mission taking pictures of enemy carriers.
I slowly worked my way towards the carrier, avoiding a few destroyers and sub hunters but made it within 4000 yards even.
But I can't take the picture! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
I used to lock on the target back when I was playing with auto-lock and TDC assistance (I believe it was the "L" key) but now that I have switched to manual TDC, the little photo symbol won't light up to let me take the picture!
What's that trick? Any ideas?

I think you need to use the observation scope.

I figured it out!
Thanks!

Didn't know that the "L" for lock also works for the manual TDC (never occured to me, duh!)

So, I took the picture but then sank 'em both and hightailed out of there (well, in a very slow silent running at 2kts kind of way).

I was lucky though because a destroyer came running for me but then ran into land somehow and backed up a mile or so, then just continued to run right into the coast again back and forth back and forth.
Some problem with the AI?
Have you guys experienced that before as well?

Didn't get the full war experience but it was still cool since this was the first time I've even seen a carrier since I got into this game ;-)

And no, Lane, I was sneaking in during dark. Learned my lesson early in the game.

The land was between you and him. He is sailing a straight line to you. I have used this to my advantage a couple times. I got a pier between me and the DD once. It kept ramming the pier until it sank. Of course, after that, the port was defenseless, and I had a field day.

Earlier in the war, there are unescorted carriers around the Hokkaido

Enema ships running into land is an old SHIII bug. A bug that I used as a tactic whenever I raided Gibraltar. There would always be at least two destroyers that would get stuck on Gibraltars eastern peninsula and ultimately blown out of the water by my boat. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

Just another unfortunate casualty of Ubisoft's "Sell It and sink it" method of game developement. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

The support carrier has long been on the bottom.

Edema? Anemone? Perhaps an anemone with edema needing an enema?
