is this completely discontinued after 4?

or is there another version coming out or a complete remake of the product?

Appreciate if anyone has feedback on this issue for me.

Thanks folks...

Forget about TIR4, has anybody seen that thing on holograms, amd how that managed to get it right (so they say).

5 years from now we'll have our own Holo-headgear. Stick your head into this round thing and play IL2/BOB like never before.
OR just pop down to the holodeck in your garage and step into you fav a/c...

If only I was 15 again... toys, toys, toys, yeah!!

I think it is still being offered for sale by Natural Point. What makes you ask if it is discontinued?

Ummmm as far as I know they're still alive and well, though I can't justify getting TIR4 until my TIR2 eats it or 6DOF is a must (I'll have to re-evaluate when Blackshark and or BOB come out)

The Natural Point company is doing great. I see no way they will stop producing products and making money.

thanks all.

finally getting around to getting it...

couple places I tried said the product was discontinued. Maybe they meant sales for that outlet was discontinued.

Probably.

Also, you might want to check out TrackClip. About $30-45, basically it's a little gadget you stick on your headphones/headset and it works like the clip-on for a hat, except it doesn't look as dorky, and works with TIR4. (Not sure about the older ones)

I'm wondering if I should try to get one for Christmas... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

This is jensenpark, looking dorky is not a problem.

Discontinued or not, TrackIR4 was the best purchase for the PC I've made in years.

Okay you look a little odd wearing it on the cap, (I cut an old one down to the peak and headband, its a bit cooler for prolonged wear), but the immersion it provides is unbelievable!!

Recommend it most highly! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

i think the place you saw "discontinued" at was prolly E-DIMENSIONAL...

last i heard, "something better will take its place" but the way they had used the wording, it just sounded like a track-IR 4, with a few extras or something packaged with it.

i dont know really. but that was the speculated rumor for a bit.

The Track IR4 I bought came with both the track clip and the vector clip.
Works great!
Now to get my flying working as well!

Best purchase I ever made for IL2, but I really would recommend the track clip pro to go with it.

I used the hat attachment, but found it good, but when I bought the track clip....what a difference.

Really accurate and smooth, very, very impressed with the difference.

Finally I use the Charvel profile, found on the Naturalpoint website, which I find perfect for how I play...there are many other profiles though to suite your taste.

Basically...buy it, you really wont regret it, it adds a new dimension to your IL2 gaming.

Cheers, MP.

I would be surprised..

the only "indication" of this, as mentioned above, is that e-dimensional has "discontinued" the product. I asked about this at the NP fourum ,and their gentle answer was:

"It is an indication that they are no longer an authorized dealer of NaturalPoint products."

I wouldn't be too worriedhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Yep, we are alive and well, and there are no plans to stop selling the TrackIR4.......... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I can vouch for that. I had to order a replacement Track Clip Pro today from NP, and I just received notification it is on its way to me. I can't play BOBII without 6 DOF and the head swings---it's a total joke with the mouse.

Hi Vincent,

Can we buy stock in NaturalPoint? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Just so I'll understand....The TIR4 Pro "clip" is 3 LED's (though possibly IR wavelength), and only attack to "over the head" bridged headsets not "behind"?

Correct, though I'm not sure about the LED or wavelength part. I don't mind the over-the-head bit, as behind the head headsets never fit me. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

It would be nice if they could make the track clip wireless.

Well, I want TIR yet to be honest though I realize everyone does what they do to make money, I find it difficult justifying $40 for 3 $.10 LEDs and perhaps $2 more of other materials with maybe spread out $10 in tooling costs....So what, a with profit $20 item for $40......hmmmm http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

That said, and needing 3 reflective points for the 6dof to work, I think I might have a solution.....

$40 for a pc powered flashlight is a bit rediculous........Besides this way I can keep the martian rays from affecting my government implanted brain chip http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I'm hooked on trackir (I have version 1).
However...
The price for trackir 4 is nuts.
I'm looking into alternatives.
Here's one.

Falling aluminium caused havoc with the enemy airmens ability to find their target in WW2
by blinding their radar.
Be carefull not to drop yours as the mayhem
and blindness it would cause here doesn't bare thinking about.

My dropping aluminum be it from face or elsewhere doubtfully would cause anymore blindness then many of you have already caused to yourselves http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif....300,000,000 cases of carpal tunnel can't be wrong. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

That get-up looks like something from 300 with its naked warriors. The two eyes peering out---very sinister.

Those two links were posted merely to give one an idea of what the emitter array looks like ( compared to the reflective array).

I did not notice he was flying with the key board till you pointed it out to me.
http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif
But I did notice that he couldn't properly setup the emitter array http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/touche.gif, said it was faulty http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif, and said that it was a novalty item not good for anything more than playing with Fight Simulator. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif
