hi yo!

Which version of the Corsair (F4u 1A, Corsair Mk.1,...) do you think is the most adequate for Zero killin using BnZ?

Thanks

Well it depends on mood. If I want to see a Zeke go down in a ball of flames, I'll get any of the ones that have 50's. However, if I want to see a Zeke get torn to shreds, which I like more often than not, I'll go for the -1C.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

so, supposing u wanted to get the zeke in flames (doesnt sound quite ethical though) http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif, which of the available models and variations would you choose?

I think he just answered that http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The F4U-1C has 20mm cannons and against the Zero that means that either in the first burst the Zero will no longer exist....OR both wings and tail will be blown off in short order.

The .50cal armed Corsairs (which is the rest of them) take a bit longer to do both of those so you tend to have more intact Zero's but burning and typically missing one wing.

Since all of the Corsairs in the game are within a few fractions of a percentage performance level of each other you choose the one you need to use the most. The F4U-1D/Corsair Mark IV has slightly less fuel which makes it a bit better for maneuvering and its supposed to have more ground attack options (although they are all remarkably similar).<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

The -1C and -1D might be the most nimble when the internal fuel is set at 25% to 50% due to the lack of fuel tanks in the wings (F4U-1 and -1A were the only Corsairs to have fuel tanks inside the leading edge of the outer wing panels). Cannon armed -1C will shred a Zero, but cannons fire slowly and the ammo is quite limited. The 50 caliber machine guns spew a lot of lead, but it takes more hits to do the same amount of damage.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I think the -D is the best one because at least for me I end up taking a lot of snap shots and I prefer the stream of 50's to the slow bursts of 20mm. And regardless of what you may hear, the 50's will work quite nicely on any aircraft, especially a "zero".

For me, it's a toss of a coin between C and D. If I go against bombers or ground targets, I slightly prefer the cannon version, as lurking around the G4M sting tail for too long is not a good idea. For zeros - it doesn't really matter: I like explosions as much as I do fireballs. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Mate, -1C has 240 rounds per gun. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Yeah Zekes are fragile I have killed them with medium range short deflection shot from 2x.50 in a Brewster http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif, so pretty much any Corsair, Wildcat, Hellcat, Brewster, P51, P38, shall I go on http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

Only thing I don't feel good going against a Zeke in is a P40.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

And if you want something original, try a D and a burst of HVAR rockets ...
