Hi, just thought i'd introduce myself and ask a quick question while i'm here. I've come back to IL2 after a long break and am really getting into it this time. However when up against other AI controlled fighters i just cant seem to match there performance! they are allways getting away from me. I've tried various plane combinations and unless the enemy is flying a complete pig compared with me i get wasted most times. Any quick tips for the new guy?

and take your time. Keep coming back and asking questions, you cant go wrong!

The problem is that the AI has almost perfect engine management. They can trim, boost, close radiators, match prop-pitch to RPM without fiddling with a key-board. The result is that keeping up with AI in the same or comparable plane is almost impossible. Also, AI doesn’t suffer black-out, red-out and don't suffer the consequence of convergence.

Their deflection shooting stinks, though.

the AI seems to vary also between patches. Sometimes you cant get your flight to do anyting, but sometimes you can just tell them to cover you and they will take on the world. Very inconsistant.

also, ACE skill level in misn blder is UFO city as far as i can see, and any level above rookie gives bomber gunners android terminator ability.

Still better than any other sim ive flown though.

When flying against AI, I turn overheat off, since they never open their rads. Makes it a little more even.

If you're patched up to 4.05, it's not your fault, the AI are oooober.
If you're flying 4.03 or below, then you need skills.

Patience is best, either way. It is a simulator, rather than arcade game, and there is no time limit on not getting killed.
