Greetings! My name is ChessMess, member of the Stratactic Studio team, and I am here to gauge the amount of interest in the Far Cry community on the idea of taking our existing BF1942 based mod and making it available as a Far Cry mod.

For those who are not familar with our mod, it's all about fast paced action on the water! Putting you in the driver's seat of a high speed, ultra slick, Hydroplane outfitted with fearsome weaponry! Please take a moment to check out our website (Redesign in process... so it will change) for more information:

http://HydroRacers.StratacticStudio.com

In order to make this happen we will need first and foremost a coder who is experienced with the Cry Tek engine. In addition we will need modelers and texture/skinners as well as sound engineers and map makers.

I think this mod could be a great fit with the Cry Tek engine. Please contact me only if you are interested and you have experience in mod development. Ensure that you put 'HydroRacers' in the subject line otherwise my spam filter will gobble your email and I'll never see it! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Contact me : ChessMess@hotmail.com

Again, I can only make this happen if I have the people to help make it happen, so If your ready to create a fun, exciting, fast paced action mod with stunting, strategy that gets your heart pumping... contact me!

Thank you for your time,
ChessMess

I would also like to know if this is something the Far Cry community would like to see. So if you think it would be something you'd like to play, please speak up.

High interest by the community for a given mod helps motivate individuals to join on and create it! We need talented individuals to help make this happen, so encouraging shout outs are much appreciated by the fans! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Time to check in... thus far we've had no emails from anyone with the desire to help and only two replies of which only one gave a positive indication, not the best of starts but far to early to reach a conclusion.

Piranah we do have a case where I need to be able to keep this kind of thread in the eyes of the indiviuals to which it is targeted at, however I do not wish to repeatedly bump in a forum where discussion on how to mod the game, tips tricks and things learned in mod creation have a higher importance. Might I suggest a forum for Mod recruiting and Mod information where we can post these types?

Thank you for your time,

That kind of mod with the crytek engine sounds like a rip off of bloodwake

Experience with the Far Cry engine?

What are you smoking, crack? ;p

The retail version has only been available a few days. You're not going to find any "experts" so quickly, except may be Quad, but Quad doesn't count, because he's either an alien or a robot.

After reviewing the game you speak of I can see there are some similarities between our mod and Bloodwake. To say its a rip-off of a retail game made for the X-box is a bit harsh in my mind, I was not aware of that game at all when the mod was first concieved. I think given the multitude of games and mods that have been created it would be difficult not to create something that does not share some basic characteristics to something already released. HydroRacers also resembles HydroThunder... yet we are not trying to create a 'Rip off'... only a enjoyable playing experience for the community.

Very true, I should indicate it would be preferable to have someone with previous modding experience using the same programming language that CryTek uses... or at least some programming experience.

We also need modelers, sound engineers, Graphic artists to do interface work, texturers and skinners, not meaning to put all the emphasis on coders.

Thanks for the feedback,

Not a problem Biscuits, I think it would be pretty cool as well! Ramping off of small embankment, hitting Nitro's and flying aross an island, lying in wait in a small enclave as a enemy boat goes by and then giving chase... HydroRacers for BF1942 is a blast and has been featured on TV and in Magazines!

I've played a version of your mod that was on PC Powerplay in OZ. It was quite fun to play and cool especially if you change to using the FarCry engine.

I am currently porting a sci-fi mod that my team were developing to the Cry engine. Although I havn't the time to help you directly I am happy to share usefull knowlege.

We also plan to include some air units, including news copters and the following plane, which will drop off JetSki's to those stranded out in the water after thier racer is destroyed (if they managed to abandon it in time). http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

We have not received any response to the call for individuals to help make this possible, so if you are interested in helping please contact us!

Also if you're intrested in playing this mod and already have Battlefield 1942, stop by our site and pick it up. It is only 23megs in size and you can find it on the following stunt server: http://www.neutron7.com/stunts/ .

So if your interested please let us know!

Not giving up! We have not received any contacts from individuals willing to help make this mod a reality on the Crytek engine.

We need Coders, Modelers, Texture Artists, Graphic Artists, and Sound Engineers. If you can help please contact me!

Anyone who happens to be in the UK and get the PC ZONE magazine, turn to page 108 and check out the article on the mod! It received a very favorable review!
