Are those (real) pictures taken from the air? The way the light falls on the clouds make all the diffrence you know. Wether you are above, below or at the same level of the clouds makes a big diffrence.

When the clouds are low, the sun is on the other side of the clouds so they appear very dark in color. With white clouds, the rays of the sun can reflect from the bottom of them and make them appear in a diffrent color and texture. But there is in fact little or no diffrence.

Your drawing way to many conclusions from one cloud screenshot. Give it a rest until you get more info to base your decision on.

I'm offended by the suggestion that God made those clouds.

Like eveything else, Raven made the clouds. They form from the contrails off his wings!

Seriously, Metabaron has a real point to make....

for BoB to be truely atmospheric, we need clouds like they really are in SE England:
1.the BoB cirrus clouds are uniformly white, often they have a markedly different colour to lower levels
2.let's see some altostratus! never seen them in FB of BoB (limited) pics. They're often very black from below compared to higher clouds

Both these types of cloud are often associated with nearby active fronts, of which we see a lot in the UK. Battles over Kent won't be the same without them!

I'm glad to see Metabaron is a religious person. He says "God's" clouds and not "Nature's" clouds. However, he is far too quick with jumping to conclusions. BTW, what combat sim has better clouds?

The internet never ceases to surprise. Here is a site right up our alley:
http://www.cloudappreciationsociety.org/

Now, this would in itself justify a post in this thread. But! Somewhere on the pages of this site, someone managed to photograph a cloud resembling a legendary reggae artist.
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you "The Bob cloud": http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

One of the things you notice flying real time in light aircraft is the incredible difference in clouds not just from day to day but even over a short period in the same day or even looking in different directions.

What is mainly missing in PF/FB from a distance is the complex combinations of different layers at once.

Somehow I don't think modelling dynamic cloud variations (including little English summer squalls which would be amazing) will be a big priority in BoB though.

I'll add my "glass half-full" version. I think Oleg's group did a pretty damned good job of making their clouds look closely like their real life counterparts.

My only issue is the way they get drawn at distances, as they just start popping up all over the sky as you close in on something. Big FPS hit. I usually run old clouds.

I've seen all kinds of different clouds in real life, even green ones (that one was scary!)
The diversity and complexity of real clouds is such that NO computer system EVER will be able to simulate them perfectly.

God told me he thinks the Mustang is definately undermodeled.

Your pic is more like the God's cloud. The clouds in BoB is too inflated, just like cottons. And they don't have dark sides and bright sides. all snow white. Here's another pic.

You have no idea on how the clouds in BOB will look. You draw way to many conclusions from one partial cloud screenshot.

I apologies....the sky is not the only thing thats falling.

On closer examination of those four screenshots... that portion of a cloud may be spot on but what about all the other types that aren't and probably won't be there.

Not only that but there seems to be only two cockpits...one a spit and the other a 109. What about the rest of the aircraft. They do need wings you know. Don't get me started on the spit cockpit thats in black and white on one part and in color on the other.

I know for a fact that the Channel is alot bigger than the one in the screenshot.

I'm not looking forward to this sim at all. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Good point. And when viewed from far away, cumulus clouds appear to have rather hard edges. This attraction for fuzzy cloud edges may be preventing Devs from making much larger cumulus clouds. I dunno.

if you grew up with atari and nintendo, then you should agree with me when i say all the new game graphics rule. Clouds, ground from distance, ground up close, everything about what technology has brought us gamers is awesome and it will only get better.

Ah, Space Invaders. Pretty much the first "arcade" game to hit the pinball arcades. Followed quickly by Asteroids.

There was a design flaw in the Space Invaders cabinet however, and you could slide the front glass up and pull it out from the bottom, reach your hand down inside the coin box and get handfuls of quarters, as well as "tick" off free games by hitting the mechanism that registered coins as they went down the slot.

Yes, I was a juvenile delinquent. Fell in with a bad crowd in my teens, but quickly realized that being a career criminal would have it's downside.

I'm far too pretty to go to prison and I didn't want to end up saying to Bubba, "Couldn't you just hold me tonight?!?!" Or worse, being "loaned out" for a carton of cigs.
