05-09-2006, 04:57 PM
Gran Turismo series, Rollercoaster Tycoon....

Thats all i know right now.

05-09-2006, 04:59 PM
Yep, it's the only game/sim I've had installed for four years. Flashpoint was the second longest; 2 years. Other than that, most last days weeks, or a couple of months. Not that I'm a serious gamer by any means. FB is amazing though... 4 years and I still feel I haven't scratched the surface.

05-09-2006, 05:08 PM
Never Winter Nights would be the only other one

05-09-2006, 05:18 PM
I have many games that I never finished and some I never started

05-09-2006, 05:21 PM
Other than IL-2, just Anarchy Online.

05-09-2006, 05:31 PM
I'm a strategy game nut, where the catchycry is quality over quantity. so there are a few that stand the test of time as well as IL-2. Panzer General 2 and Steel Panthers WW2 mostly, but also Civilisation 2, Alpha Centuri.

The only other game I ever really got as involved in was Operation Flashpoint, which I still download mods and maps for when the mood strikes me.

05-09-2006, 05:34 PM
- Windows series
- Volkswagen golf series

err.. can't think of any more...

05-09-2006, 05:42 PM
M$ Flight Sim, Freelancer, Trainz, Rollcoaster Tycoon, GTA, Elite, Jet Set Willy, Mame. That's just of the top of my head.

You forgot to put option 4: loads of games. I started playing games since the first Space Invader coin-op landed in Skegness in 1978. I think that my trigger finger is more flatter than most people from decades of shooting the bad guys. I wonder if I can sue Tatio? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

05-09-2006, 06:12 PM
M:TW is my all time favorite, and of coarse the il 2 series online!

05-09-2006, 06:22 PM
This is the one and only.

Be sure.

05-09-2006, 06:25 PM
Keep in mind Im not talking about just other games you play.. I want to know what other games you play that you have played as long as FB.....

05-09-2006, 06:46 PM
Medieval total war. Cant think of eny game that you can play som many times whitout getting bored of. Exept for IL2 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

There is also som games that I play from time to time but not that often. Like Fallout and Balders Gate, And Transport Tycoon http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

05-09-2006, 06:55 PM
I probably had CFS2 for two - three years and previously the SWOTL series. But I've been using this sim since March of 2003.

05-09-2006, 07:17 PM
Operation Flashpoint....since it came out in around 2001.

I still play the cold war crisis campaign and the resistance campaign at least two times a year since I had the game. Every mission completed seemingly slightly differently as well. (i thought the red hammer missions were not very good though)

I just cant really explain how good the resistance campaign is....its one of the few games you get emotionally drawn into...really hoping that Viktor and his resistance fighters from Nogova kick out the rogue soviet invaders.
You never forget that moment where you capture some crumby old T-55 tanks.... The intro sequence starting with the invasion through all the missions to the credits is an awesome experience. For a game so old I dont think anything recently can compare to that campaign and the balence and variety of each mission.

I still regulaly play

Operation Flashpoint - since 2001
IL2 - since 2002
Call of Duty (original) - since 2003

Hmm, lets see.....

Freespace 1+ Silent Threat
Freespace 2
Command and Conquer(many versions)
Call of Duty
Medal Of Honor
BG2+BG2 Throne of Bhaal

Too many to name, I'm a pretty hard core gamer, I have lots of games I still play.

IL2 is the only flight sim I fly, CFS3 at times but only with OFF.

05-09-2006, 07:33 PM
B-17 The Mighty Eigth, Sdoe, Moh Series.

05-09-2006, 07:56 PM
The only thing I've played longer than IL2 would be Flightsim ... since Flightsim 98. CFS2, B17 II and EAW also held my interest for a few years until the day Oleg dropped da bomb on us! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Still, while I've had some version of FS loaded on my systems for almost twice as long ... I've spent at least three times the hours and enjoyment in IL2.

Bearcat, in my book it's the best thing going ... and I've been gaming/simming heavily since the early 90's. (Notice I didn't mention a thing about the day they rolled the first Pong game into our campus commons back at the old UofR ... twitch, twitch, blink ... addicted ... NAW!)

I was a Mod, then UO Forums Administrator at Stratics.com
I even went to an EA premier for Ultima X at EA's expence.

I have Waaay to much time on my hands http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

05-09-2006, 08:31 PM
I've had Falcon 4 on the old HD now for a long time. But IL2 has been the time grabber since the demo made me forget about EAW....

05-09-2006, 08:31 PM
Have to sim nearly every day in IL2 and it's been that way for 3 years now. Still feel like there's so much more I haven't tried.

Bearcat, I tried to PM you but this computer at work won't let me past the javascript filter. Decided to apply for your squad after giving some thought about the time zone. Starting time for Fridays is still only Midnight on the west coast http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Will drop in to your website later and check out the contact links there.

05-09-2006, 10:25 PM
My record has to be the Janes/EA "us navy fighters" series, which went thru several evolutions to advanced tac fithters, usnf 97 (vietnam) and ended the whole series in the excellent 'fighters anthology'.

havent flown it in a couple of yrs, but i flew it from 96 to 2002. and yes, it evolved alot over the yrs to, and i made cmpns for it as well. It had the best misn blder bar none of any sim ive had.

05-10-2006, 12:38 AM
HEAVY GEAR (both 1 and II) ive had the longest...i miss playing that online. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif (PLAYED WEEKLY)

Operation Flashpoint has been on my HD pretty much the day it came out (PLAYED DAILY)

olegs sim is # 3, (PLAYED DAILY but sinking fast!...need a break?) registered / signed in here, the day i got it. wow that was a few quick years..

05-10-2006, 01:19 AM
FS2000 and onwards is really the only one I use regularly. I play the original IL2 once in a while (I should use it more often, it's great fun).
CFS3 I used for a while, but I find it's only good for straffing/rocket attacks. I like the effects in that game though, and the airfields and ground objects (including train stations, V1 sites, radar stations, docks, vehicles) are extremely well modelled.
I also play CFS2 occasionally (I like the aircraft models, and sounds...and you can fly the George).

05-10-2006, 03:46 AM
Steel Panthers from its first incarnation ( long before IL2 ) through all its iterations and patches up to the current freeware version. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif Must be about 10 years or more

05-10-2006, 04:23 AM
Battlefield 1942.Great mods.

05-10-2006, 04:28 AM
While I've played allot of other games, some for 6 months or more, none come close to the time spent on this series.

I still play the CIV's occasionally and lets face it, between CIV 1 and CIV 4 nothings really changed too much.

05-10-2006, 04:49 AM
MSFS Series http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Flanker 2.0/LOMAC FC
Warcraft 3 http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

World Of warcraft - true it hasn't been out aslong as Il2, but when I used to play it, I was on for around 10 hours a day over the Summer http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/disagree.gif
I cleaned myself up, and went cold turkey. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/partyhat.gif Starosta was my Mentor.

My password has `36` in it.

That means I started on this forum at the age of 36. It also means that`s about the time I started really getting into IL2.

I`m now 39.

That`s the longest any game/sim has kept my interest.

Quite amazing actually, since before 6 months was the longest on average.

05-10-2006, 05:02 AM
Still play alot of Falcon 4 and I had that back in 2001 so thats a solid 5 years enjoyment from that game...

05-10-2006, 05:05 AM
M$FS series and this one. Tried 'em all, trust me, nothing comes close to FB/PF. Sure I'm unfaithful sometimes, but I'll always come back. FB/PF knows this and puts up with me. My last fling was with BoBII, I tried so hard to like it, I really did, but it just didn't compare to the 'real thing' - popping out for a hamburger when you've got steak at home an' all that...

05-10-2006, 05:05 AM
Earth 2150
Unreal Tournament
NFS:Porsche Unleashed
Baldurs Gate:Shadows of Amn

05-10-2006, 05:29 AM
MSFS (been playing that since FSFW95)

05-10-2006, 06:06 AM
Virtual Pool 3. No Friday evening is complete without at least one match in my 9-ball tournament. I have played this game since '98? Or thereabouts. And just like the box says, it really does help improve your IRL pool game.

05-10-2006, 06:42 AM
Counter Strike is the only other game constantly on my HD.

COD 1 UO Multiplayer Modded is on and off quite a lot, its so much better than COD2 which has not been modded much yet.

IL2/FB is the game I play the most, but I do play a LOT of games, but none really have the longevity which Il2/PF has. I usually complete them and then remove them.

OC what servers do you fly on? I would like to come and fly with you one day.

I am usually on either Winds Of War/Ukdedicated/Warclouds, and will play on any settings, I find them all fun. (not got 4.05m yet). Fly under -=Xiola=-

05-10-2006, 06:45 AM
This is the only one to last the distance.
Its true love, and I don't play around on the side http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

05-10-2006, 07:46 AM
Micrprose's F-19/F-117, Yeager's Air combat, and EAW, back when they were new. but now the only two that I really play are FB/AE/PF, and Mechwarrior 4 Mercenaries.

Planes and Mechs vie for my time. Too bad the only Marauder I can get is this one,..but I reallllly like it.

05-10-2006, 08:22 AM
Nothing even comes close to the amount of time I have played this game,,,

Thats what amazes me about it!

05-10-2006, 08:27 AM
MechWarrior 4 looks beaut http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif I think I've played it before, can't remember http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

I got PF on Christmas 04. Since then, I haven't played any other game for more than 2 weeks. Il-2 for the win http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/metal.gif

05-10-2006, 08:58 AM
Solitaire, Minesweeper and Word.

05-10-2006, 11:12 AM

There have been games in the past.

I was a UO fanatic way back when it first started..

Then there was Mechwarrior2 and 3 good stuff there.

Finally neverwinter nights, a truely awsome engine especially with all of the user created content out there.

But sine I loaded up Il2, its been the only game I have.

05-10-2006, 11:23 AM
Here since 11/01. No other game even gets a quarter as long. The game is a work of art.

05-10-2006, 11:27 AM
Other than this series, the only other games I have played for as long as are MSFS series, Gran Turismo series, and Falcon 4 and AF.

05-10-2006, 11:54 AM
CLOSEST to IL-2 was the Microprose F-18 game. Started playing it on my Macintosh at the time, then got a PC and played the PC version on the then new PC with a VooDoo 64mb card. 2.5 years or there abouts.

The IL-2 addiction shows no signs of subsiding http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

05-10-2006, 01:52 PM
I'll have kept copies of Fallout, Fallout2 and Civ3 on my computers for a long time and I still play them every so often.

Nothing comes close, however, to the ammount of time I spent playing MircroProse's 1942 "Pacific Air War". 6 years. In fact, the IL2 series is the only flight sim I have bought/played since then because in my opinion, the bar was set so high with that game that all others (including IL2 in some respects) paled in comparison. By today's standards the graphics are archaic and the FM is nowhere as detailed, but those are only part of the equation to a fantasic flight sim.

05-10-2006, 02:03 PM
-Steel Panthers World at War, tactical WWII ground combat.

-Fighting Steel WWII naval surface combat with Thunder at Sea a campaign overlay.

-Silent Hunter III might last as long, Silent Hunter II and Destroyer Command did not.

-Used to play MSFS a lot, got into it before IL2 but now play infrequently

05-10-2006, 02:11 PM
Hearts, minesweeper and solitaire is on my pc and still used occationally.

05-10-2006, 02:16 PM
Flat out!
One of the funniest game I've ever played.

And the next sequel is coming this summer...

05-10-2006, 02:20 PM
I apopreciate all the answers.... but some of you are totally missing the point of the question..... not how many games have you played..... not how many games do you play... How many games have you played regularly as long as you have played FB.

I dont care about the sim you used to play that you played hot and heavy for 2 years..... 4 years ago.... or the other game you play a few times a week today... I am talking about a title that you use as long as and with the rgularity of FB.

But thanks anyway guys..... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

05-10-2006, 03:13 PM
I still play all the games on my list frequently, if you count F4:AF as a continuation of the original falcon then I have been playing that LONGER than the IL2 series.

05-10-2006, 03:25 PM
WEll I've only had pf since about a year ago an just got fb like a month or so ago I think but I was playing runescape long before that I think its been about 2 years now .

05-10-2006, 03:25 PM
I played Rainbow 6 + Eagle Watch, Rogue Spear + Add-ons, Ghost Recon + Add-ons, Raven Shield, Battlefield 1942, and CFS2 for a year or more each somewhat regular. That said, I don't/didn't play any of them every week as the original question asks, just like I don't play FB/PF every week.

05-10-2006, 03:29 PM
Falcon 4 longer than Il2 because it came out before, in fact i bought my first real pc just to play it, i would say i use it slightly less than IL2 lately because its a jet sim, thus more aircraft management than aerial ballet. but still remains on my HD and i fire it up quite often. i do quite often set aside a whole weekend day to run a mission or 2 in realtime.

Also RavenShield, the old Rainbow 6 games, been there as early as Falcon 4. Lockdown is pants tho. series is messed up now, staying with RvS, play nearly as regular as il2.

05-10-2006, 03:30 PM
Falcon 4.0, Panzer General2, Nascar 2002, but I spend way more time w/ this sim.

05-10-2006, 04:37 PM
I was a UO fanatic way back when it first started..

Trust me, when I say if I don't know your name from UO...you wern't a fanatic.
maybe a fanatic wanna-be....but unless you played at least 15hrs a day 7 days a wee with 5 accounts on 5 machines running at the sametime...you were just a fan.

I wasn't a fanatic either...but had to deal with them on a daily basis.
I still have nightmares.

05-10-2006, 04:42 PM
Falcon 4.0 and Nascar2002 for me.

I also play CloseCombat-Normandy from time to time, again.

05-10-2006, 05:00 PM
GPL, FS2004 and BoBII WoV. Fs2004 and BoBII WoV are upgrades to older sims that I migrated from so they both count. Of course the IL2 series is also in the list of sims I still play regularly.

Each of these sims has its own area where it excels and that is what has kept them on my HD for so long.

GPL is still the best racing sim despite all the latest stuff.
FS2004 is the best general aviation sim availalbe.
BoBII WoV has the best offline campaign and imerssion.
The IL2 series is the best online sim and the best overall variety that is hard to beat.

05-10-2006, 05:04 PM
Back in late 2001 I get Il-2 Sturmovik and Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis

and been addicted since then....

05-10-2006, 08:08 PM
This sim from jump and Flanker 1.0 and up.
Even bought new computers to keep up. Started with Microsoft Sidewinder and am now up to CH full monty. My money is good and as soon as Pe-2 becomes hassle proof I am sure I will get it!!!! Thats a promise http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/metal.gif

05-11-2006, 12:19 AM
FS2004 and IL-2 are both long-time faves of mine, and I also played Doom and Quake a lot back in the day. But nowadays it's virtual aviation only, because I got TOTALLY fed up with monster-extermination!

SHIII is something that has aroused my curiosity a lot lately, however. So maybe I'll get promoted to KaLeun one of these days, huh???

05-11-2006, 05:03 AM
I still play Grand Prix Legends with a DirectX 7 wrapper, all graphics updated (replaced). Picked it up in early '99 for $5 at a computer show and it took me a year to run competitively against the AI (a likely reason for the games "failure", too realistic). Since I've picked up GTL I do seem to be playing GPL a little less now, and maybe the writing is on the wall . . . but, still . . . good game.

05-11-2006, 05:29 AM

Tried CIV IV; but didn't like it.

05-11-2006, 08:50 AM
For awhile I was interested in WW1 sims,and tried Wings of War,but didn't like it,too arcadish. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

05-11-2006, 09:29 AM
Have been playing the bejonkers out of the IL-2 series since its initial release!

The only other games/sims/series I've played with comparable intensity and longevity are:

EAW, with its multitude of mods and add-ons, which I didn't stop playing until 2004. (started in 2000 so about 4 years worth)

Age of Empires series; now much less frequently but AOE2 still played on occasion. (Probably about 4 years worth at intensity, dropping off gradually thereafter.) Not keen on AOE3.

Falcon 4.0, followed by SuperPak versions and now moved on to AF (starting in 2001, so about 5 years worth and still going strong).

The Rainbow Six series, with RavenShield + addons IMHO the best, and still played. (Again, about 5 years worth.) Not keen on the look of Lockdown.

Of these four, only two get played with any real frequency these days (F4AF and RavenShield).

Overall, for sheer number of hours played and good value, I'd rate the IL-2 series as No. 1, but the others not too far behind.

I voted the second option, as only two of the other games mentioned are played to any significant extent today. That the sort of info you were after, Bearcat?

Best regards,

05-11-2006, 09:30 AM
My main games are IL2, Hidden & Dangerous2(+expansion pck), Afrika Korps & Desert Rats (RTS), and after 12 months i've gone back to Battlefield 1942...because after a very good attempt at COD2...i find, i dont like it, just too dam hecktick...am getting to old for Quake style fps, i prefer tactical.

At this rate i'll be back playing Flying Fortress The Mighty 8th by the end of the year...but nothing has beaten this series for longevity.

There really doesnt seem to be anything new WW2 related either that grabs my attention...thus far...anybody any news?

Seems strange to be playing such old games 3,4,5+ year old games or is this the state of WW2 genre or games in general?

05-11-2006, 09:30 AM
Bear, I dunno if anyone plays the original RB since 1998 but before that there were many
who played it for 7+ years.

It's the still play now thing that's kept me out. OS changes have killed a few games I've
had that I would otherwise still crank up now and then. I'd love to see the later GNB
series games updated to run on DX9 or even Linux.

05-11-2006, 09:54 AM
gta san andreas is the second most played game for me. Addicted since last summer, after completing 3 times. And it has a flyable dakota!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif (p.s,Still prefer this game though, most of the time!)

05-11-2006, 12:53 PM
MSFS from the beginning.
Operation Flashpoint.
Nascar series.
Falcon 4

05-11-2006, 05:11 PM
The Call of Duty series, 1 and 2, I usually run as often as IL2 series.
I also occasionally crank up MechWarrior 3 which Ive had on all my pooters since 1999.
JarheadEd, I have trouble with MW4 as it crashes not long after loading...shame, it did look good. Any patches to fix this?

05-11-2006, 06:21 PM
Flashpoint, since its release so many augusts ago....

05-11-2006, 06:26 PM
MS Solitaire
