is anyone intrested in that game?
I didnt payed much attention on it but Im interested now when I read this in Gamespot's preview:
"Sniper Elite quite probably has the most detailed sniping model ever in a game. Not only do you have to adjust your aim to deal with bullet drop (gravity's effect on a bullet in flight), but the game can also take into account wind, your posture, your heart rate, and your breathing. Most of these options are disabled by default, but if you want to try to simulate sniping under those realistic conditions, you can activate them in the difficulty settings. Perhaps one of the most rewarding features of the game is that if you do manage to get a successful shot off at long range, the game will automatically switch to a bullet cam, and you can follow the bullet's flight from the muzzle of your rifle to your target's head. Gory? Yes. Cinematic and cool? Doubly so!"

it will come out for consoles also but that doesnt mind me much since I know my PC will be able to handle it http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Does anyone know anything about this game?

I've never heard about it, but isn't it getting a bit close to sniper training with all those factors.

Even so, it'll probably give people the feeling that they are good a shooting and could practice is out of the game. Some weird mentalists.

That's not the thing in the game and beside, I dont think ppl will think they are pro snipers couse even with all those things, it's still very simplified.

I've got it and it's awesome http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

Singeplayer is pretty cool and its satisfieing to kill your enemies when all the realistic sniping options are enabled (gravity, posture etc.)
However it can be difficult sometimes because you can only save 7 times (3 times on the hardest difficulty) for each level. You can save more but your score will go down with 300 points per save.

Multiplayer is even more fun, I've been playing Team Deathmatch and normal Deathmatch. You can choose between the Russians and the Germans. 5 points for each kill and 2 points for each dogtag you collect. The Team/Player with the most points wins.

It's a shame the PC version doesn't contain the co-op mode (playing single-player levels with 2 snipers) it actually doesnt really matter because SP and MP are great anyway.

If you got any questions, just ask http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I thought it isn't out yet. How long do you have it?

And deathmatch sound like heck of the fun if you need to snipe you enemy (I only hope it's slow paced).

Why do you have scores? Are there any rewards?

Yep, sounds great. I've always wanted to try an "Enemy at the gates" stlyle sniper-war in a game. Looks like this game will do just that.

I don't know how it works exactly but I think you can get your scores on the internet via GameSpy (or something like that http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif) and compare it with other players.

I'll give you some examples when you get points as a reward:

- Killing 2/3/4 enemies with only 1 bullet
- Long range Headshot
- Moving target
- Normal/Double/Triple covert kill (when the sound of your shot gets masked by bombs going off for example)
- Silent Kill (Killing an enemy unnoticed with your silenced pistol)
- Dogtags collected (I only found 4 in the first levels)

You also get points for the longest range you managed to kill someone. And everytime you perform one of these hits, the bullet-cam will be enabled. Followed by a text showing the range and extra info about your shot.

EDIT:

Yep Soulfire,

SPOILERS (Enemy At The Gates):
Yeah, The game even had one level that contains these broken pipes Vassilli climbed in, just before he shot K¶nig in his hand.

- Killing 2/3/4 enemies with only 1 bullet

Sound very unrealistic. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Not unrealistic at all. The rifles used by snipers are very high powered. In fact, most infantry weapons of WWII used high powered cartridges. Since hollowpoint ammo is outlawed by the Geneva Convention, the bullets used are full metal jacket, and they will go right through a body. If more people are right behind the target, it will go through the target and hit the next.

Well, don't expect to have many multiple kills with 1 bullet. All I managed to do in 1 week was killing 2 bad guys with 1 bullet. Only once.

And if you see an opportunity to do this, and if you fail. You probably won't have a second chance by loading again. Because the enemy will react different every time after you load a game.

I knew you will join us http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

i know that those rifles were powerful but I didnt mean that it's unrealistic for bullet to pass trough 4 ppl but it's hard to get 4 ppl in a line. And if you aim from a building (were all snipers were shooting, especialy in Berlin and Stalingrad couse those deserted building were perfect for sniping) it is imposible get more then 2 ppl in the line couse you aim from pretty high position so after bullet pass trough first man it have only 2 meters after it hit the ground.

The most important question of all: how far can you zoom? In all other games I've played where there are sniping elements, the rifles can't zoom for crud...

I've got the game and it fun!
You cant zoom veryfar but far enough http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif. But with binoculars he can see pretty far.
Character animation are great, he have more then walk/run speed, like in SC. Controling on PC isn't bad at all and graphic is pretty decent (as I expected no slowdown and it looks great).
Some thing bothers me that make game unrealistic, you can carry bodies at pretty fast. That would be it. Im gona go play it now and I'll post more after.

i'm thinking of getting this game as well. Looks awesome. I wasted my time getting Lockdown, I think I'm gonna trade that in and get Sniper Elite.

I finished first 2 missions. One thing I dont like is that game doesnt punishing you for playing as action game. They wrote in all reviews that it will punish you but parts that was hard to finish with sniper I fished with machine gun or assault rifle.
That also works for mission where you have to use stealth when in general you dont have to, you can finish it with a lot of action.
This make game's gameplay more open ended but it lose that calm cool sniper quality.

But for now I really liek the game and Im glad I got it. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Oh, maybe I'll check the game out. H@D was pretty sweet. Plus I'm looking for another good Single Player game. I'm getting sick of playing MP games all the time.

You might try F.E.A.R., I've heard it has one of the best SP campaigns in years. Quake 4, however, focuses on multiplayer.
Huh, is it just me or is there always a fight between 2 games every holiday season? Last year it was Halo 2 vs. Half Life 2, and now it's F.E.A.R. vs. Quake 4.
And, lo and behold, one of them isn't a sequel!

Why dont you paly H-L2 for 13th time? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Sniper Elite have interesting missions, but they dont feel like they are connected to much with the story. Still, story is pretty decent.

How is this game paced? Is it slow and methodical, like Rainbow Six, or fast-paced, like Call of Duty 2's sniping section?
(Well, it's a sniping section if you want it to be. I used a sniper rifle to defend a building in a russian mission.

It's open ended. I mean you can take MG and shoot at everybody but your ranking wont be high and you'll be full of bullets (if 2 or 3 guys attack you, then you wont be able to count them). You can also play with sneaking but it's not in SC were you're sure that nobody see you while you are in shadows so that's the hardest way (as in real life). But if you sheak behind them and kill them with silenced pistol it will be very satifying since noone will be alerted and you will get points for it.

If you focus on sniping then it's hard to describe if it's slow or fast, couse it's both. Im gona describe on situation so you decide:

You find on the map one location near you that's good for sniping. You dont wana alert anybody so you crawl to get to it, cheaking the situation with your binaculars (sorry if I spell it wrong) every few moments. When you get to that location you see that sniping location is a damaged building. You go in and place the tripwire granade in front of door. After you check the situation with binaculars and count 5 enemies you decide to snipe them all. After you shoot first one there is no way for calm sniping, you need to take the rest before they take cover couse then it's pretty tough to kill them all. You manage to kill only 4, so one is still free but you cant find him anyway, couse he decided to run away from his group. You decide not to wait near window couse he'll probably ambush you. Then you hear the granade explosion in front of the building. Your trap worked. You pull out the MG and wait near stairs. Noone come upstairs so he didnt have a backup near him. You think that area is clear and move on on next part of the map.
