ive had the best fights ever online in that server.

no giant hp dragging you all over the sky, just a wrist tied together knife fight in the best tradition. Classic maneouver matters in this game of early technology. And i like it.

Theres somehting so pure about the Zero fighting the Wildcat, i put it squarely next to BoB era of early Spitfire v Me109.

excellent idea, excellent server.

bravo

I was in the server for a couple hours the othernight. Its been the most fun I had in along time.

I was flying japanese and got most of my kills with the ki43.

Also none of the direct 6 attacks on the dauntless or val but trying to stay out of the rear gunners sites makes it so fun.

Compaired to attack dead 6 and explode a bomber in a 1 second burst everytime with the latewars

It is a good server, isn't it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Bombing those carriers with Vals and SBDs, diving on the ships and finally getting back alive... it's unspeakably fun http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Glad you guys are having a good time . Dont worry gents the Zeke vs Wildcat server isn't going anywhere. We are working on some more missions for the server and we are not short on Ideas http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif BTW wait until you see the mission that is going to be added the rotation today. I wanted to put the mission on the server yesterday but I just didn't have enough time to check it over and make sure that everything was working propely. All I can say is that both sides are going to be tested on how well they can provide CAP .

What's the ip or the name of this server?

Thanks.

I agree, now my favorite server on HL, by far.

Tactics and skill win over high HP and big guns for purity of the experience in my book.

The addition of the P40E also makes for some serious tactical thought. Again a good mission, but how about some P40B/C or Hawk81 A2 AVG action?

Bravo.

The server name is Zeke_vs_Wildcat.
btw I read from the server's net site that connecting through HL is recommended http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Looking forward for the new missions http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I usually take the SBD on the bombing sorties. Though it doesn't happen very often, once in awhile I look over my shoulder to find a fighter covering my six and it is much appreciated.

I don't fair all that well most of the time when a bandit gets after me, but now and then my AI backseat gunner gets a kill. I've even managed to roll in on a zekes six to get him off of a freindly once. Bet he was suprised. LOL

Sounds like a really good concept for a dogfight.

So I copied it.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

It didn't take long in FMB to come up with a copy of this type of mission.

So far I have it limited to USN versus Japan, 1942.

Other versions would be easy enough to come up with.

I never did get into "server" software, but I could host a dogfight mission once in a while.

Never been a fan of "full real" servers as such...to complicated and difficoult to fully enjoy it.

But....dove in to the Zekes vs Wildcats server breefly the other night.....and wouldnt u know, i enjoyed it alot, basic and fun, machinguns vs machinguns...u could even get some kills with thoose flaming things where as on other servers u might as well sell them as scrap. The biggest reason for making it fun for me was....lots of players, a deasent mission, small enough map and icons that gives u a fighting chance knowing where your enemy is...(icons beeing set just right in my opinion)

Well done...and keep it early war...pleeease. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Couldn't agree more. Great concept, lotsa fun. Could someone set up something similar for Spits & Hurris versus Bf 109's and FW's ?
One thing, though. I get a lot of freezes once I've been playing awhile. I even get kicked off the server. Big Freeze and then "Adios!"
Any ideas?

Biggest (legal) high I've had in a while:

TWO successive carrier landing with kills on Zekes VS Wildcats. Rare separately - together, unprecedented! I was very pyched. Great server.

I get that too. Assume it's my rig and or bandwidth issues. I get a lot of flux from my cable - maybe time to get down in the crawlspace and run new line.
Also, you want to check that any 'automatic updates' are shut off for windows and shut down your 'auto-protect' virus scanning. You could have things competing for bandwidth in the background.

Osiris, what's the ping max for kick?

And just to join those singing praises, I've had a blast in there myself. A real white-knuckle, teeth-gritting experience for a bomber nut like myself!

The max ping for the server is set to 400
