View Full Version : Friday's Question

(Legion88): Will my decisions regarding damage repair be able to affect the outcome? What I mean is: if I order things repaired in the "wrong order" could that doom me?
(Devteam): The minor repairs are not so risky unless you€re in a tight spot and you may lose some essential capability at the wrong moment.
However, when it comes to combating flooding it will be critical to prioritize the crew assignment.

Yep, I'm expecting such level of realism. If you saw the trailer of the game when the U-Boat torpedoes that ship and then crash-dives to avoid the destroyer it is hit by some depth charges. Since SH3 includes many subsystems that can go awry, prioritizing repairs may be paramount to salvation.

I like it.

Everyone is going to know flood control on my sub. Hope I can get them to do it fast. Ofcourse an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. I'll keep outta, sight outta mind. No dare devil tactics for me. (although I would like to try that U47 daring mission in Scappa Flow.) http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Sorry, I´m a rookie here on board, hope it´s the right place for my questions:

1.) Will it be possible in SH-III fighting (fictionally) with u-boat type XXI during whole wartime, anyway earlier than just the last few weeks before the final "G¶tterd¤mmerung"? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

2.) Will SH-III offer realistic type XXI-performance like e.g.

- firing torpedos exactly determined from 50 meter depth?

- being equipped with quite modern automatically target-seeking torpedos?

- hardly to be detected by asdic? Or radar? (using e.g. the "Metox" or "Naxos" - FuG)

Let me explain, Ladies and Gentlemen: Just for a jolly good sport I´m hot at last to win the atlantic-war - at least one time and virtually on the screen. So let´s forget Hitler for a moment.

Really, guys, it´s boring meanwhile all these british and american super-clever super-heroes on tv and in the movies since years and years; winning the battles without difficulty - always in the same "...a smart few against regiments of idiots"-style.

I know, there are some really good, fair and realistic british and american wartime-movies, but not a lot. And naturally I know the german forces lost the war - but not all the battles! Even "Ultra" wasn´t really what was told about it for years, in many aspects it´s overrated and nothing else like legends and belated british wartime-propaganda. Over there in Kiel D¶nitz and his boys also were not stupid, believe me. (In reality quite more danger for the "Grey-Wolves" resulted from "Huf-Duff" instead!).

So after all these years, SH-III may perhaps offer a little chance for a frustrated After War-German´s revenge to Hollywood? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/mockface.gif

Ah, by the way: will huff-duff-detection be featured in SH-III?

For those of us who never made it past the rank of common seaman (myself included), allow me to translate: Since SH3 has a bunch of different stuff that can be broken, fixing the right ones first can save your @$$. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/354.gif
