It's not time, it's temperature.

64 degrees centigrade will give a perfect egg.

Lacking the required Centigrade scale egg thermometer, how does one determine that? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

depends on the altitude also. I set the timer for 10 minutes on a soft boil. Allow them to cool under running water. Then peel while still warm. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

hmm, where i can buy one of those egg heaters? or is there "vacuum" that water boils at lower temp, or you happen to live ´high´?? :P

How well an egg is boiled also depend on the initial temperature of the egg. My parents used to have a very old refridgirator. It cooled everything down to about 1 centigrade. Getting an egg to boild to what one would expect from 7 min., took 11 min.

Soultion: Experiment.

I believe the hard-boiled egg will float in salty water. So you could boil your egg in that, and it should be done when it floats. If it floats straight away before actually boiling, don't eat it, it's rotten.

However, the traditional 10 minutes work just fine, or as a friend used to say: Egg-zellent!

Cheers,
S.

It's simply, just put your car in neutral and keep the engine reving until you get 64 degrees on the radiator tempreture gauge, then CAREFULLY, I'm talking leather gloves, overalls and a face mask CAREFULLY open the bonnet and undo the radiator cap, now pop your egg into the hole. It won't fit all the way so you'll have to turn it at least once.

Read this:

Your eggs will be way overcooked by the time you finish the article, but a good read, nontheless.

This is a good thread. At least I understand why I always get the jelly stuff remaining in my eggs after boiling them.

Easiest way to get a softboiled egg is to put the eggs in the water cold when it boils time for 3 minutes

see, this thread is GOOD example, how well we know how to make eggs..

now compare this to our knowledge about the flying, we only see one side of the coin, sometimes 2 same sides.
really rarely, we see 2 different sides and the side of the coin.

I was always taught to add a little salt to the water when boiling egss as believe it of not it helps prevent the egg shells cracking...... why baffles me but it does seem to work, unlike you lot http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

If the pot is on a conveyor belt the egg will never be cooked.... however hot the water may be.

I never though of this before. If the eggs are on the conveyor belt, and an Airbus makes a low level fly-by above it with doves flying in its cargo compartments, it is quite likely that the eggs will take off. At least for a while.

way i meant, that, everyone knew that eggs are boiled in water, yes? still following??

now, intresting things happened., no one could say, that how long time i should cook the eggs to get em just and just hard, right from the middle with keepin that opague dark yellow spot in the yeallow.

Because, no one knows, how cold my fridge is, where i kept them even if i dont have to, no one knows do i dip them im boiling water, or put them in mild water..

all these affect to time where eggs are ready for point i want them. still, many first would thought how easy..

same is with adding the salt, what i meant was this:

we all think about this sim and flying the same just because we readed about it, pilot accounts etc, plane staticstics, kill staticstics. it all made us feel that we all are experts because we think that "I know the best" just because they believe in so.

thats the salt.

and now i hope you understand my meaning of this thread. did it not come clear to someone?

(editors note: idea was only to bring you in state where you start to think your own actions and motives. and to understand yourselfs)

err that is a bit stupid to say the least saying that, as unless you put them in a special microwavable egg holder that replaces the shell, they will explode and you do not know the age of the poster..... they could be injured if they put in several, panicked and open the door..........

Why does it take that long to boil an egg? Could you explain it to me in terms of quantum mechanics? Because I think Bernoulli was wrong...

Boil water, add salt if preferred, put in eggs and leave in boiling water for approx 3 mins for a softish egg, and 5 mins for a hardish egg. Works for me!!

In terms of Quantum mechanics: The egg is both boiled and unboiled at the same time. the actual act of observation determines the physical state of the egg, which is in a state of flux up until that moment.
In other words: A watched pot will never boil. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
