As most of you probably know, I just released my Lightning Strikes campaign at Flying Legends. I like to make short campaigns of 6-12 missions in length and I like to keep the variety of theater, scenario, and objectives fluid so I'm not doing the same types of missions all the time.

With that in mind, I want to build campaigns that are within the communities scope of interest. Everyone has their opinion...but I'd like to hear yours. What scenario would most interest you right now?

Any theater, any scenario...as long as we have the planes and the maps for it...

A ground attack campaign for hurricane mk IIc over burma

A RNZAF Corsair Island campaign would make a lot of Kiwi's and Aussies happy.
A RAAF Defence of Darwin would also win you some down under friends.
A max of 16-20a/c in the air would assist the lower end users.

P.S - the NG map would suffice for the Darwin Defence scenerio.

Request no3 - A RAF/RN desert campaign for the F4F3/F4F would also be something that has yet to be done.

How about a small campaign about the land based USAAF Buffalos (or B-239 something) that operated over New Guinea in 1942.
I think USAAF got them from the Netherlands AF or something.
Would be great to have the B-239 kick KI-43 bullocks!

I'm with mole_boy.

A 'Hurricanes in the jungle' scenario is one I've not seen before.

What about defence of Sumatra in early '42 (use NG map?) - Defence of Palembang & strafing of Japanese invasion barges by 258 sqn.
Might have cross continental appeal as 258 had high percentage of US & Kiwi pilots.

Make a campaign for a B-25 GUNNER in New Guinea.

Singapore january 1942

a RAAF pilots campaign.
first flying Buffalo Mk.I (soon http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif ) , than Hurricane Mk.IIb .

enemies sould be Ki-43-Ib , A6M2-21 , G4M-1 .
also using D3A-1 (with the green skin)as Ki-51 and SB2-M-103 as Ki-48 looks ok.

opositive factor, as the AI is in general a "turner" that would fit perfect the AI japanese fighters http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

ore September 41 Murmansk:
RAF Hurricanes supporting soviet forces against the germans.
let a RAF pilot fly a I-16 in a mission for example http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Kyushu 1945:
a IJAAF pilot defends his homeland.
flying Ki-61-Hei , Ki-100 , Ki84-Ic

enemies can be the full allied arsenal http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

hopefully the patch will be there in some time

ore some eastern front:
the begin of Barbarossa as a romanian pilot.
Lvov map.

romanians had HurricaneMkI , IAR80 , P.11c , He111-H2 , Blenheim

vs the VVS with
I-16, I-153 , TB3 , MiG3 , SB-2 , DB3

I second the bombing campaign against Japan idea in 1945. Either flying as a Japanese in defence of the home islands or as an allied pilot (USAAF, USN, or even RAF and RN) flying escort for the B-29s.

On the European side, maybe a small campaign as part of Bodenplatte ?

I wanna this one. Romanians vs. Russians.(they have started Barbarossa with Germans).
Too bad that we don't have German HE112B fighter (one of the best fighters in late '30s -- the most beautiful fighter aircraft of it's time by far). Romanians also used Polish fighters P.11 and P.24 and German Bf110. Later in the war they have used also Henschell Hs129s for ground attack role.
Would be a nice scenario IMO.

How about a Russian P-40B campaign? Or does anyone know where I can get one. Thanks.

Interesting scenarios indeed! When the patch comes out some of those will definately be possibilities.

I've decided at present to put together a 6 mission RNZAF campaign featuring RNZAF No.14 squadron flying P-40s at Guadalcanal in 1943. But all of those are possibilities.

Flying for the Romanians at Barbarossa sounds interesting too as does the defense of Kyushu which I've already investigated. I really want the Ki-100 for that one.

I guess I should ask what aspects of the current campaigns I've done you like and which you don't. What can I improve on?

If you're not against delving into "what if" scenarios, IceFire, I'd suggest looking into a small campaign that makes use of the Oahu map for something other than the Pearl Harbor attack. It's a shame that we have an entire island which is used for only one raid. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

even if you let start the enemy AI planes outside the map these small Desert (ore Belgium) map is rearly small with its 50kmx50km size for a serious offline campaign.

i realy wish they would have made this map in a size 100kmx100km ore 100km(west-east)x50km

Excellent resource...I shall have a look into it.

Capt._Tenneal, I'm definately not against what-if scenarios as you can see in my portfolio at Flying Legends that I did a 1946 campaign with the YP-80 as my first test campaign (I wanted to break the ice).

Although I find the historical ones more interesting...using the Hawaii map has some potential to be used somehow...I think at the moment it makes a really great air race map actually.

How about some P-47s using the Normandy map for fighter-bomber missions? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif
When was the last time you saw a Normandy campaign? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif They also could par take in some Escort relays with the Engaland based P-51s. So you can have it all here, ground attack, escorts recon missions, etc. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
Plus you can also play the german side defending the onslaught form the Allied side. I just wish the Normady map was MUCH bigger. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

Call of Duty, Brothers In Arms, Medal of Honor, etc. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif Name me one that doesn't have the overdone Normandy scenario.

< just kidding > I couldn't resist the dig at the FPS games.

I just finished a Normandy campaign using the P-38 as a fighter-bomber. See the Flying Legends website for details http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'll go back to Normandy...but not right now.

How about "Berlin '45". Russians attacking the Germans in and outside Berlin with IL-2's, Yak's, La.s etc.....

You could use some of those new Smoke/Fire Effects from 3.04 to great effect.

This is a bit of a silly one but, what about the 633 Squadron (fictional) books for the Mossie? Dunno if anyone else has read the set but they had me captured as a kid. Would take a bit of imagination though.

Hey, you might want to try Jagdflieger 2 by Snipa1977. It is a campaign for a 190(thnk it's the A-4) in the desert. You fly against Spits, Lightnings, Hurris, P-40s, B-17s and P-39s. Actually, the first few missions are in France and then it moves to North Africa. I got up to the 17th mission before getting stuck and deleting it but I'm thinking to replay it. I've also been doing the A-8 campaigns from The Last Days add-on. They're cool, too.
You can get Jagdflieger at the Airwarfare campaigns page

HI IceFire,
have enjoyed your work in the past. As a member of the Il2 community let me thank you for your efforts.

How about operation Dynamo, the evacuation at Dunkirk? Fairly self limited, lasted just a few days and a small number of missions would cover it nicely.

Keep up the good work.
