Hello,

I was lucky enough to go to Italy in late December and managed to visit a lot of the real world locations that Ezio visits during his quest in AC2. I'm now close to finishing the game and I'm in awe everytime I play the game and run around the places I just saw.

Anyways, I figured it would be cool to share some of my pics so you can compare with the locations as recreated in the game!

Great pictures, although I can only compare them to the gameplay footage I'm able to find on YouTube http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

I especially like the first photo of San Gimignano! The yellow buildings look awesome in contrast to the blue sky.

Awesome pictures, I like imagining Francesco hanging down from Palazzo Vecchio with that creepy face... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

But I can't see any hay stack in front of the Campanile, what did you jump into when doing that leap of faith?! xD

Well, in mid-air I realized there weren't any hay stacks so I fortunately ended up landing on top of a couple of minstrels that were pestering some of the tourists. They didn't survive but they helped cushion my landing. They were annoying anyways!

It would be awesome if someone that knows how would take screen shots from the game, to match the pics posted here http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/metal.gif

wow. amazing photos. did u take them yourself?!

i was in italy for the first time in my life 4 months ago with my GF and was in every location u showed... obviously :P was major fun and we ate a $hitload of a ice-cream. however we had the privalege of being there when it was hot and full ioof tourists and residents and the streets were full of life and ppl. looking at vencie in the rain, empty of ppl, is a lil sad.
and it's a lil exciting for me to think that if i ever get to accept the new DRM of the PC version (dont know if i will) than i will be able to "revisit" this locals.

again - beatiful pictures, whoever took them.

Great pics

Been to Italy a few times and have noticed a few things that game got wrong... The campanile in Florence is shorter in real life (the game has it as taller than Duomo but it is actually relatively the same height/ shorter). Other than that they did a good job! I love San Gimignano!!! Climbed to the top of the tower in the main square and is a great view!

Brill photos. Ever since I first played AC2, I've wanted to go to all the cities in the game just to compare these key locations.

Looking at these pictures, Ubi did a brilliant job replicating them in the game.

Those are just a few of the photos I took on my trip, and I took over 1,500 of them lol.

I did go to Rome as well but since I haven't made it to Rome in the actual game, I don't know what locations are featured yet. I just finished the Battle of Forli and don't want to move on with the story until the new DLC is released.

The weather during the trip didn't cooperate but everything was beautiful in a different way. Even though the pics don't show much people, it was pretty crowded everywhere, I can't imagine the mass of people during the summer months in those places. The pics in Venice show no people at all because I was visiting the famous places early early in the morning trying to beat the crowds and the lines http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Here's a pic of San Marco square on New Year's eve, waiting for 2010 to arrive, it was quite an experience, as the tide kept rising and the square flooded (that's why you see some catwalks on a couple of pics in Venice):

http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/6448/vennewyears.jpg

Ubi did a great job with the locations. For what I can tell, for the most part the locations in the game are actually smaller than what you see being there (like Piazza della Signoria, or the main square in San Gim) but surprisingly, the real Monteriggiani is much smaller than the one in the game, it took me like 2 minutes to walk from wall to wall http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Ah, and there's no Villa Auditore! lol

I did go to Siena as well and hope to go back. I wish the game had Siena as another city, I loved that town!
