I know this a little off the normal discussion, but i can't find anyone to give me a answer. prob being, some of my folders in certain area's are Blue color, when almost all are black print[describing content].I have microsoft, loaded, w/ sp-2. What's with the blue type next to the folders?

That just means the folder is compressed. It's probably from you running the Disk Cleanup utility.

Cool ! You learn something new everyday. I was curious about the blue type by my folders too. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Follow-up question : so.... is this a bad or good thing, the compression, I mean ?

Performance hit - cpu has to de-compress.

Not an issue if it's just documents, but not a good idea for game data http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

When compressing you need about as much free space as you are using for the folder to be compressed, Windows copies the data to the new compressed format prior to deleting the original http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Also for them to be shown in colour, you need to set 'Show Encrypted or compressed NTFS files in color' under tools-folder options-view in explorer.
