Anyways, look real nice.
Keep up the good work!

Are there any other maps that can be downloaded?
Assuming they are all this cool looking and nicely detailed http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/agreepost.gif

These maps will not be for download by themselves, but will be included in the upcoming addons that will be released.

addons - pfft. I'm so sick of hearing about these and the updates.

I bought Pe-2 addon ages ago thniking the new updates with the Burma and Norway maps (which is what I'm really after!) were not far behind. Now I'm stuck with a **** AI and endless updates on how the updates have been postponed. I wont uninstal Pe-2 considering the hassle I had installing it in the first place so just don't both flying tha much anymore.

If this is the kind of thing BoB: SoW is going to be like and the kind of dedication to the fans....paying public is going to be like then sod it.

Actually Vladimir, Ray, Laurent and myself did all the work for this in our own time and you're getting it for free. Sorry it's such a burden.

Thanks again Ian.

I can sympathise with adam906's opinion, if not his presentation.

There are a lot of rumors about the last updates of the current sim, but nothing concrete from UBI about how these addons and final patch will happen. You know the story so I need not repeat it all, except that now there is the chance of a final, all encompassing DVD. A great idea, if, that is all there will be and it will be released without having the seperate 4.06 and 4.07 add ons released first. I know this has nothing to do with your work, but it is relevent to the discussion.

UBI needs to tell us how this is going to play out. I know that I, like most, do not want to purchase the add ons twice. Release them all at once on DVD and move on with SOW: BoB.

Thanks again for your brilliant work Ian.

Sorry about the hijack.

My understanding is that there will be a "to 407m" DVD by Christmas.

Nice work. I try to restrian myself, and have done pretty well so far, but really want those addons. Can't wait for them and the Burma and this map.

Did your Norway map make it in?

mrsiCkstar

Man I really hope the Norway map makes it! That map and now this one alone are the reasons aside from online play for my wanting these add-ons so badly!

I like the concept of the 46 add-on too and I'm looking forward to flying those Russian jets and that Thunderbirds ship as well for fun... but these maps http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/metal.gif

Thanks for the previews Ian, and of course all the hard work that you and your chums & associates have put into making the upcoming maps. <S>

Personally, I quite enjoy waiting for additions to a game that is already full of good things. I enjoy the pleasure of expectation - even though the DVD will be in the optical drive like a rat up a drainpipe when the postman arrives http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Thanks again

This map is excellent and we already have a number of scenarios on HISTORIA that this map would fit perfectly into...but reading the quote above is like...well, let's suffice it to say "more than I was hoping for".

I said it before, you guys are among the great artists. This new map layout has a lot of character. The shrubs somehow give a sense of added perspective and depth. Thanks again, Ian and company, for keeping our hopes alive. IL2 series .. long may she reign. 4.07m on DVD -- YOWZAAA!!

That would be FAN-FRICKEN-TASTIC!!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

But why no official word from UBI?
What's the big secret?
We're going on six months and not a peep, what gives?

Sincere apologies, ianboys. My rant was not directed at you or your efforts. All your work is exceptional. The point I was trying to make was that first Norway was the rage, then Burma, now Africa and in the meantime it's been two months since an update to the main webpage for Pacif Fighters.com

The way UBI is going about this whole thing stinks. That was my criticism.

Just a question though, how can we get it for free - I though 4.07 was a pay-for thing then came the free addons...

ianboys

Burma will be in 406 as a free bonus. It was originally meant to be a free download but as you need to pay for 406 to play it, that made no sense.

Norway and Desert will (AFAIK) be in a free 408 download.

Ashame, but the sobering reality nonetheless. We ARE the smallest part of their customer base, but one of the most vocal...go figure. It's probably the fact that the mean age of the flight-sim community is almost 10 years older than the rest of the pc-gaming community and we aren't as rife with apathy. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

My .02c

btw. The maps and info are so greatly appreciated. Thanks Ian. Also, I'd really like to see some of those pictorial narratives including some of the new content (remembering the good 'ol days) as you used to do if at all possible. IMO, those did as much for the community to both satiate AND whet their appetites that it was only a good thing and better than any post on the main-page of the site.

I look with deep interest to the new African T.O. map.....
Waiting for new map release: meanwhile a new Il2DCG Sidi Barrani, 1940 Campaign should be available soon.
It'll be not over a NEW map but over a NEW WAY TO ""EMPLOY"" http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif MAPS !!!!!!
