Yo, does anyone know some good guides/docs for how to perform aerobatic maneuvers? I've googled around, but have found nothing substantial.

Thanks,

Stingray

This one is for gliders, but is all I could find quickly on the web. The engine adds a whole new dimension to the maneuvers, but most of the basics should be covered here.

Mike Goulian wrote two good books on aerobatics, "Basic Aerobatics" and "Advanced Aerobatics", if memory serves me right. "Basic Aerobatic Manual" by William Kershner should be good too.

Thanks for the link, this is what I have found so far:

Don't expect standard il-2 to approach reality here even though its the best flight model going around.

Example, the rudder deflection performs nowhere near reality from a keyboard.

There's a little info on the IAC website of course too: http://www.iac.org/begin/figures.html

If you have any specific questions, post em!

And like Krashan says, real world stuff is quite different from what the sims will do. Basic figures that can be done with most of the G in the vertical direction, and without approaching the critical angle of attack (stall) are easy to model well, but things really diverge beyond those parameters.

Il-2 isn't too bad for what it is - the glider sim "Condor" is actually the best I've flown for aerobatics, but of course it's all in gliders.

I'm hoping to be impressed with Oleg's SU-26 when the time comes to try it out!

Well if Oleg is confident enought that he is going to include a aerobatic plane I think we are in for a treat, becouse then for example stallĀ“s should be something much more closer to the real thing, and same with flying just in boundries of the envelope.
