Last week I visited the great folks of the Me 262 Project(me262project@juno.com) up at the Paine Field Airport in Everett , Washington. They had flown the first of 5 "new"262's the day before & were busy checking over the GPU's ( Generator Power Units)which were a little cranky ( they didn't want to work...) the people there were kind enough to allow me to take a few pictures when they rolled out the aircraft to fire up one of the engines.I include several of the pictures I took along with earlier pictures taken by the staff during a visit by the Collin's B-17.There are more I'll post if these come out & if I get a few requests for them....Hals und Beinbruch!

The closest I've ever been to a 262 is at the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum in Washington during my trip there in July. It was parked next to a P-80. Sleek looking thing.

In light of what these folks have accomplished, I hate to say this, but: With the added canopy space, the predatory lines of the 262 are just about destroyed. Just looks like a goofy jet-powered trainer. Are they planning on any of the 5 to retain a fighter canopy?

Again, what these folks have accomplished is outstanding. I see one of these bad boys making a movie appearance one day. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
