You guys have certainly done a lot of great work in a short time, but a WWII Pacific Theater sim without a flyable carrier borne torpedo bomber for the Japanese is like painting the Mona Lisa and leaving off one of her eyes.

The Kate is absolutely necessary.

There was a WIP B6N Jill (the Kates successor which also saw quite a bit of fighting in 1944 and onwards)...could be flyable...maybe. Haven't heard much tho.

The Kate would require a couple more targets then what we currently have... namely an early and a late war US battlewagon.

If we had a Kate we'd also need an Avenger... and with an Avenger an IJN Cruiser and Battleship.

Unfortunately this is well covered territory and I think the concensus is that PF makes a great add on but a not so great standalone. You'd have to add 4 or 5 additional maps, aircraft and objects to get PF to baseline standalone level. It's a great product if you look at it from the add on perspective.

Regards, Goshikisen.

p.s. - there is a certain irony in the fact that 1C was at first reluctant to make PF an add on.

I completely forgot about the Avenger because I was using the Beufighter to carry torps.

So make that, a WWII Pacific Theater sim without a flyable carrier borne torpedo bomber for EITHER SIDE is like painting the Mona Lisa and leaving off one of her eyes.

We wouldn't have to have any ships added to justify these airplanes. This is a flight sim after all. Besides, both sides already have battle ships anyway.

The IL-2 is, I have found, a decent replacement for both the Kate and Avenger. It can be landed easily onto a carrier, and the brakes are very good, which means you are unlikely to ditch off the end of the deck.

But I suppose the real thing would be better!

Well said!

I'd rather see the airplanes than ships we already can make do without with some imagination, although new Everything would be nice, the Flyable aircraft are needed the most here.

For the ships, I can get Silent Hunter 3 or whatever if I wanted (I don't). We should someday see cockpit for Hawker Hunter in Strike Fighters, that will be Aussom. Airplanes must always come first in a flight sim. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

* Gosh, if you dragg down others to lift yourself up, you will only get as far as the distance you can dragg others down. There is always a better way. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

?

I'm sure I appreciate the efforts of the developers and 3rd party modellers as much as yourself Lex... I guess I just have a different idea of what a Pacific War Air Combat sim is.

I agree with idonno.....PF without the torpedo carrier bombers is like painting the Mona Lisa and leaving off one of her eyes...LOL.

We know about the Avenger "problem"..., but at least the Kate and Tenzan.....

For the ships...no problem, i change their name in the briefing.

Remember, in the early days, we would sit in a chair, grab the broomstick and shouting things like "Brrrmm brrrm". That where the days when you where a kid didn't have a PC.

Good Point.

I have a Theory that the first computer flight sims from last century gave people more enjoyment and even immersion, with much less Whinnage, than the most modern flight sims of today. One thing to think of...when we don't need to use any imagination, we will have Full Real simulation. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Most interesting, "some" here have already Demanded that Oleg stop any new Flyable Japanese torpedo bombers unless or until the Ussian corporations allow the Ussian torpedo bomber planes over the PF.

Gosh, we all probably agree with the need for More Ships, but...at least laugh at the topic title. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

as a devout fanboi - I have a simple remedy.

I have painted Mona Lisas' left eye onto my forehead...now everything looks right as rain to me.

You may not see flyable torpedy planes, but I do.
