Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

Ghost Skies is a Dog Fight League that takes a relaxed and fun, yet structured and civilized look at online competition. We offer lots of variety! No longer will you be stuck with one plane or year. Or even one option for settings. You can compete in whatever meets your interest at that time.

Ghost Skies offers 3 eras for prop fighters: Early War Era prop fighters from 1940 and prior. Mid-war Era prop fighters from 1941 through 1942. And Late War Era prop fighters from 1943 and beyond.

In addition, there are other fun options such as a Bomber only DF, a Jet only DF, a Role Play allied/axis fight, a Game Of the Week option on a week-to-week basis. And even an option for a wingman free-for-all! You can fight the matches with the most kills within a time limit determing the winner, or as a no-respawn, Last Team Flying match. Settings are negotiable as well. Aracade settings up to Full Switch Difficulty.

The rules can be found at the Ghost Skies website. If you have any questions, or would like to join, please contact me at league@ghostskies.com

See you in the Ghost Skies!

Forgotten Skies

Full real online war.
Dynamically generated missions using DCG.
Calendar scheduled matches.

FS is a continuation from the DiD (Dead is dead) from IL2, when FB came out, DiD closed shop and Forgotten Wars came into existence.

After a merge with Iron Skies, we renamed to Forgotten Skies.

Close knit group where comms is a requirement. Both sides have a secure bunker to discuss tactics and strategy.

Url: http://www.forgottenskies.com
Forum: http://fogwar.luftwaffe.net/forums/

Registration is required by squadrons, (individuals are free to apply as well).

Currently we are in Kuban 1943.

FS has a web based parser that tracks individual stats and mission results. FS emphasis's living and rewards flying 'realistically'. We seek to make things as real as we can http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Fighter Sweeps 2 is the sequel to the old Fighter Sweep competition. FS2 is a multiple round squad v squad competition. The settings vary from medium to full difficulty. FS2 takes advantage of a mission generator created by 663rd_biker, which allows automatic scoring through an eventlog parser. Fighter Sweeps has been around approximately 2 1/2 years.

The next round of FS2 starts up Friday August 6th. We are currently setup for beta matches until the round starts.

If you have any questions about the competition, don't hesitate to contact me at clutch_663rd@yahoo.com

Update for Forgotten Skies
(www.forgottenskies.com (http://www.forgottenskies.com))
Forgotten Skies now uses DCG to generate missions. However, the host no longer needs DCG.

I have created a web interface to generate missions that runs DCG on the web server.

This makes hosting even easier.

Server running under development and support of Gennadich Team (GT) www.Gennadich.com (http://www.Gennadich.com).
Server G1 running in dogfight mode with 64x players support and have maps rotation on it. Maps will change under some kind of calculations which are based on team loses from both sides, for example €" one side lost all its alive pilots or all its planes etc. Players are split into two sides €" Red (VVS) and Blue (Luftwaffe). Maps rotation will be based on historical dates and historical battle scenarios and planesets. At the moments we are working over some researches in Soviet Army archives about WWII time planesets in VVS RKKA regiments thru all war years. Server had its own statistics and news page. To start your flying on this server, first you need to get thru pilot registration process, its made for organizing your own pilot statistic and to €œsecure€ this statistic from other €œghost€ pilots which entered server with your nick, heres an pilot registration here: http://www.gennadich.com/g1/pilotreg.php

Running V3.02bm with FBDaemon II (not sure how well this works with v3.02bm, but we'll find out )

S~ all,

As of 12-02 at 01:00 ET, the Blazing Magnums dedicated server is back online.

Right now I am only running a modified version of my pacific d/f map that I made set to cycle on a 50 plane/30 pilot, 16 hour cycle.

It is using a "beta" version of the new template. I have cut down on a lot of the info in the description. It is not quite complete yet, but it will be close to what I have on the server.

It is set to host 30 players through hyperlobby with 5 "back doors" for 35 players total. This is an initial test number of players to see how much my machine can handle and how much my connection can handle.

Deathkick is on, 4 deaths gets you 5 minutes off. Teamspeak dedicated server lobby is open to the public now. Teamspeak IP is Gateway channel is no transmit channel, so you'll have to move the the Dedicated Server lobby. There are channels for allied and axis available.

The map is a pretty good map. It is generic though and there are no ground objectives as of yet. My plan is to try to make a new map every 2 to 3 weeks, so the rotation should grow pretty quickly with a variety.

Get some squad mates together and go in a check it out. I am curious as to the threshold of my computer and my bandwith. An upgrade may be necessary if the bandith outstrips the computers ability to host.

Coutesy of Vortex_79:

After a lot of hard work, WEC looks like it is about to take off in IL2.

This is purely dog-fighting tournament which runs three times a year. It starts with a league that runs over 6 weekends followed by playoffs of the top eight Squadrons which is a straight knockout competition.

The match format is an engagement that lasts for 30 minutes and these are based on three different maps, a land, an island and a carrier scenario. It does allow vulching and teams will have to adjust their tactics to suit this!

For a more detailed explainations, see the WEC (http://members.lycos.co.uk/wechallenge/il2fbaeppf7wec/) website.

The next tournament round starts on the 2nd of September 2005 and there are already nine Squadrons that have signed up.

I would just like to add that 79 Sqn (http://www.79vraf.com) is not part of WEC, just a Squadron that has helped to get it running a long with StE (http://www.saintex-cfs3.net/index2.html), 411 Sqn (http://www.411sharks.com/) and 213_Hornets (http://www.213hornets.com/)

Please visit http://www.geocities.com/vmf_214_blacksheep/PacificFighters.html for historical information.

VMF-214 vs 204th Kokutai
It is late November 1943, VMF-214 has settled in at the Barakoma airstrip on Vella Levella island. The "Slot" has "civilized" a bit and most fighting has been pushed back to Rebaul.
However, there is one historic airfield left at Ballale with a single squadron of mismatched A6M fighters and a few Bettie bombers. Thier supplies have been cut but they are fighting to the death. (Historicly the island was hit hard on Sept 16, 1943 and neutralized by mid October 43'. See below "History" for details) Due to non-available maps, I have combined the two Islands, Ballale airfield and Shortland seaplane base.

Ballale Airfield
Shortland Harbor Seaplane Base

204th Kokutai - A6M3
R-Area Air Force - A6M2-N
11th Sentai - Ki-43-I
702nd Kokutai - G4M1-11

IJN/A is airstart due to using test runway4 with no default runway. However, you can land after a mission. Runway and ramp areas are test runway #4 and are six wide (between .50 cal gun enplacements), however only three are marked with red banners so taxiing should not be a problem. A6M2-N can land in water on north side of field at the seaplane base.

Barakoma Airfield
F4U-1 (Corsair MkI) Please use USA Skins

USMC is ramp start and you must taxi to the runway for departure. Visit the website for a map of spawn point and runway location.

Distance: 55 miles
Headings: approx 280 from Vella Lavella (Midway) to IJN Ballalae(Kure) and approx 100 degrees from IJN Ballalae(Kure) to Vella Lavella (Midway).

It takes close to 45 minutes to make a single sorty, take-off to landing, with less than two minutes on target at the enemy base so WATCH YOUR FUEL!

Weather is Fair to Partly Cloudy and Hot !!!
Good luck and good hunting!

Ghost Skies has returned, and is better than ever! After a lot of work, and some set backs, We are finally able to reopen Ghost Skies for competition. The rules have been completely rewritten. The maps have been completely rebuilt. And the old website was scraped in favor of our new Ladder and Tournament system! Ghost Skies has lots of new things. But it still needs the most important addition.

Ghost Skies is built by players FOR players! Pilots like you! Without the teams, there would be no competition or fun. So, I am here to tell you all I can about GS, and how you can participate.

So, what is Ghost Skies?
GS is a Dog fight ladder league. Teams compete against one another for rank on the ladder, and a chance to participate in the final rounds, and then to win the cycle. But most importantly, GS is an organized, fair way to hone your competitive edge against other good natured squads who share your affinity for competition. And bottom line, it is fun.
Ghost Skies has two ladders.
"Legends" is a full difficulty (minus a couple of items) historically based Axis vs Allies competition. The matches are set in recreated historic battles, with planesets that are as close to historic as we can get them.
You can see the list here: http://www.ghostskies.com/maps/legends/index.htm
Not only do teams fight for themselves, they fight for their side. Red or Blue, see who will win.
"Pyro" is a relaxed setting (Open cockpit), non-historic ladder, where teams compete within a single year-per-week environment, but without restriction to particular planes. Teams compete to fight in a 1 week play-off period at the end of the cycle to see who will be crowned the winner.
Also, Ghost Skies will be hosting a myriad of prize tournaments. Whether they are open to the public, or restricted to just active GS squadrons will depend on the sponsor, but you can be sure that lots of opportunities will be available to win prizes and have fun!

Bottom line, no matter what you want to do, it's all up to you. The more teams that participate, the more fun and challenging it is for everyone. So I would really like you to consider joining us, and make Ghost Skies a popular, exciting place to compete!

If you have any questions, I will check back on this forum, or you can e-mail me at crash@ghostskies.com

S! All

I€d like to let you know of our new dedicated server in HL, PacificConflict. This server will focus on the conflict in the PTO, obviously, with an emphasis on the struggle between the USN and the IJN/A.

Map rotation will be of moderate size, with a mixture between historical and fun €œwhat if€ maps. Settings will be reflective of our membership within FISC (Full Immersion Squadron Community http://www.gofisc.com ). We will attempt to not use strange a/c substitutes on our maps (I-16s, etc.) but we will have some RAAF, RAF scenarios occasionally as well.

Our goal is quality, not quantity and we hope that you, our guests, will enjoy what we have to offer. Please feel free to leave us feedback on our forums at http://www.airgroup51.com. If it fits within our idea of the server we may just implement.

Thank you, and we€ll see you in the unfriendly skies! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

ENTER GHOST SKIES HERE (http://www.ghostskies.com)

Ghost Skies announces the Ghost Skies: Brawl! 1v1 competition series! First cycle begins April 14th thru April 28th.

Brawl is a 1v1 competition ladder series that will host various themes for different cycles. This first cycle's theme is Pacific Carriers! Pilots will choose from tailhook fighters and fly best 2 of 3 flights. In order for a kill to count, a pilot must successfully land on the carrier. Brawl is split into two seperate ladders to accomodate sim pilots of different preferences. Best of all, you don't have to be associated with a squadron! Brawl is open to any and all who wish to compete in a 1v1 setting!

Full Brawl! is Full Switch, minus the speedbar for those goofy Japanese dials.

Open Brawl! is Open Cockpit and relaxed settings, letting nothing get in the way of the fight!

No matter what your preference or skill level, you can have fun, and learn a lot in Brawl! So sign up today, and get ready to rumble!

Hi! Ihave a problem with online playing. I have IL2 FB +AEP + PF merged but I have never played online, I don´t know how to.
When I push in Multiplayer it appears a screen with some "port number" or something like that. It has 2100 and when I click on it, my computer freezes and have to re-start.
Can anyone help me giving me the steps to follow? Because here in this post I did find something about IP addresses so I am really confused.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Due to a malicious program being uploaded into the Ghost Skies sever through the forum, GS had to be taken offline a couple of times, and the old forum had to be removed. Unfortunately, we lost all the old forum information, and the start of the newest team vs. team competition cycle was delayed.

Now things have been set straight. We have a new forum up and ready for use. You will have to register to use the new forum. The stats have been reset, and the system is completely ready for use.

So spread the word, set up your matches, and start flying! Good luck!
