i was just on a server, which allowed vulching, having a blast (so to speak) vulching and attacking ground targets at the enemy's airport. almost got killed trying to sweep the enemy AAA just to help my side.

i was then abruptly informed by one of my teammates that he would shot me down if i vulched another plane.

so that's the scenario.

question - for what general purpose(s) are you using the 110 for?

i am of the opinion that my actions were without reproach - obviously my "teammate" was of a differing opinion.

whatdayasay?

thanks,

frank

Its up to the host of the server. If the rules so no vulching, then there you go. If it doesn't mention it, then the fight is on.

If a guy on the team doesn't like it, but its within the rules, then tell him to stick it.

If he shoots you down, then get him.

LOL Frank, I swear I thought you were shooting the enemy aircraft that kept spawning. I had to get off at 4 AM PST to get ready for work, I had no time to wait for someone to "get by the 110", it just wouldn't happen. I have nothing against you and I apologise. You are a good 110 driver and a good ground attack pilot, and you got a cool pic for a sig.

LOL. Could you forgive me and my uber Ta-152 (I was having a blast in that thing, when I went down there were 3-4 Spits shooting me for a good 30 seconds, one collided and went down, I took sooooooo much damage http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif).

elfunko,

Yep, Bf-110G was definitely a ground pounder, so if they allow vulching go for it.

LOL yesterday I was in a game that alowed Vulching, which I personally detest, but the other team had a guy in a KI that shot me once after I had landed costing me 200 points :P ( just the principle of the point thing ) then he hovered over me and killed me twice more. once before I could even start my engine. when I finally did get airborn and shot him down I went to his base and shot him on the ground. My God you would have thought he was a 6 year old, he went into a HUGE fit started swearing at me then left the game. guess he could dish it out but couldnt take it. anyways IMHO if the room say vulch is OK, then STFU and put on your armored undies and prepared to get vulched

Most servers that allow vulching probably have some things set to counter balance it.

1) Multiple airbases.
2) AAA defenses in sufficient quantity to at least discourage casual vulching.
3) Large enough maps so even if a airbase attack is initiated its likely not to last for very long.

Vulching on servers run like AFJ or Slammins is different. The maps and spaces between airbases are too small and since the only point is to shoot down other planes (there's no real ground targets or objectives to fufill) vulching is obviously a different thing although I don't know how many guys I've fought only to have them land in the middle of combat and then have me get killed because I was nice enough to let them land and therefore place myself in the guns of another target.

Even so...if the rules say that vulching is allowed (ie. the TX server which has some awesome map setups) then by all means use the Bf 110 to full ability...its supposed to be a heavy fighter and a ground pounder so use it for its best abilities!

I use the Bf-110G as both a fighter and fighter-bomber. In my oppinion vulching is fine but try not to vulch the same guy more than once in a single flight. Vulching the same person over and over again is mean and is likely to drive him out of the server.

hey thats a great idea Death, it would seem pointless to even have ground attack A/C if you couldnt use them like they were meant to be used.

Yep its up to the Host.
If a host does not allow vulching, then I dont even bother flying in that server.
We allow Vulching when we host because we regard our server as an Online War Zone.

If you get killed trying to take off or even as you spawn thats just tough luck, just like real pilots got killed in WW2 as they warmed their engines up or tried to take off.

You already have the option of clicking refly if you spawn on an air base under enemy air attack.
That way you are simulating a combat pilot showing the good sense to stay in a air raid bunker until the raid passes just like in real life.
If the same pilot keeps getting Vulched at the same Air Base, thats his problem.
Spawn at another Air base or wait till the raid is over.
No sympathy here at all.

Im awaiting aep to be released in the uk, but it strikes me that the me110 would be a good ground attack aircraft which the axis side desperately needs as no other aircraft can compare to the il2. regards vulching on df servers that allow it if u couldnt vulch what is the point of having ground attack aircraft as in a dogfight they have little chance.

As mentioned its all down to the server rules.

I think we need to expand our terminology:

Strafing/Ground Attack: One or two passes over the base firing at targets of opportunity. Buildings, static planes and vehicles or if the opening presents itself, enemy player aircraft are fair game. This is representative of what happened in real life.

Vulching: Circling an airbase (hence the vulture term) waiting for any hapless players to spawn or attempt to land. This is simply another form of the first person shooter scourge called ‚"camping out‚"Ě where players just sit at their opponents spawn point and kill them as they appear. Not realistic, not fun for the players at that base and should not be allowed.
