View Full Version : Battle over Europe

I stumbled onto a page talking about an ILFB add on called Battle over Europe. It sounds pretty neat but advertising can often be deceiving.

Has anyone played it and if so is it worth the money?

It is the following in no particular order:

1. The single best add on ever created for any game that has ever been made.
2. the best and most exciting varied missions ever offered .
3. great briefings, the very best in the entire IL2 series
4. the very best enemy AI in any of the campaigns for the entire series.
5. you can fly P-51s, P-47s and P-38 for Americans in varied campaigns that range from bomber escort to ground pounding.
6. some great german western front campaings including, Me-109, FW-190,ME-110 and even ME-262.
I played it exclusively for the last 5 months, so I know what i am talking about.

Buy 2 of them because you are going to want to buy a back up just in case. it's that good.\

Be sure to instal the 2 BOE patches available.

what MK2aw said...I am flying a Bf110 campaign currently and it is very good fun....but you need a decent rig to run it with the larger formations and heavy flak in some missions.

You can reduce the number of planes and flights as well as the level of flak in the config. file but it is better if you can fly it maxed out.

AMD64 3500+ s939w/512k
Asus A8v Dix K8t890 S939

FX5200 soon to be upgraded...

..oh yes - Heywoood has cannibalized his Dell
Hannibal Lechter style...muhahahah

It's pretty nice..... I havent tried CoE. (Combat over Europe) Basically it is the Western Front Campaigns that were missing from FB.

BoE is great but I'm as yet unsure if the PF update has messed it up. I've only flown one BoE mission since PF, and I found the Flight leader was doing the most brain dead changes of course. As if his waypoints were impossibly close or course changes too sharp. His general flight path was like being in a dogfight! If it is a bug, I hope it gets fixed.

Thank you. I'll tool over and grab it right now.

Hopefully my machine can handle it.

P4 2.6 GHZ
512 RAM (some kind of copper thingy)
Radeon 9700 Pro

I have pddles of HD space left so I will install it on top of a fresh IL2 install without PF installed.

Thanks guys, from reading it it sounds like what I have been hoping for from IL2 for a long time.

to make long short - Just Flight's Battle Over Europe, not what Bearcat called Combat Over Europe, is amazing and ROCKS! And download the skin patch and RAF campaigns from Just Flight's website.

I'm flying the BOE P-38 campaign right now. There is an excellent immersive feeling of being in Normandy in the days shortly after D-Day. The P-38 is a tricky bugger to fly, though. I'm having an interesting time learning it's quirks.

so, the real question is, is COMBAT OVER EUROPE the same as BATTLE OVER EUROPE or is it something completely different. :cough: ripoff :cough:

It's pretty good. The missions and skins are all good. Yeh, it's worth the money.

I think it was worth the money and recomend it.

Combat over europe (coe) is a **** product with 9 scripted campaigns set at a certain numbers of missions.every time you play it over again it will be the same.Theirs also some skins with it.

Battle over Europe (Boe)is the real deal with non scripted mission like Fb/aep,theirs several campaigns for axis and allied.A load of good skins, and a h.ll of a felling.
If you download the patch from just flight, you can fly as a Raf pilot in a spitfire 9 or a mustang, theirs also an messerschmitt 163 rocket interceptor campaign too, really cool.
Theirs also some online campaign with it too,me and my friend have flown these and they are fun.
Buy it it you whont regret it.

Hmm two patches? I installed the british patch, cant find any info on a second one. Also there were rumours about a PF patch for the game so you could fly the new planes (used on the western front) in a campaigns. Any news on that?

There is an ME-163 campaign in the missions download section on the homepage. If you guys are looking for that to fly. Kinda hard though, I have tried and tried to land that thing and I keep crashing it. LOL!

I'm currently playing the P-38 campaign in BOE with PF installed, and it seems to be working. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Did you install BOE and then 2.04 patch and then PF? Or can you install BOE after installing PF?

I installed in this order:

2 BOE patches

Eveything is working fine.
