Of some software I could use to remove the vocals from a CD. Will Sound Forge do it? Or Acid? Or any other program that you know of?

Unless vocals totally recorded on one channel (left or right) I think you are asking the impossible. You might be able to reduce them, but totally eliminating them will be extremely difficult if not impossible. Your other option is to contact the record company and see if they have the music without the vocals mixed in.

Looking for the song on a karaoke disc is probably your best bet. What's the song?

Here ya go, Buddy. (http://www.blazeaudio.com/products/vocalreducer.html)

This type of software will reduce the vocal portion of the track, with minimal loss to the other instrumentation, but as was already noted, complete removal is a near impossibility. However, if you plan to add your own vocal tracks afterward, what remains won't be heard much, if at all. Folks like this stuff for home-made Karoke. This has a free demo for you to try http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

You can use the equalizer to turn down the volume of a a particular frequency range to which the singing adheres to. That should in many cases make the vocals nearly inaudible. That's how my Hi-Fi system does it automatically.
