A brilliantly composed post. Thinking of the HBO TV film, obviously.

yea, definately a good movie, those flying fortresses having the 99th escort them, then finding out they were black, they were shocked, but then they actually requested to be escorted by the 99th after that

anyone else notice that they were fighting with dropptanks in the movie?

i like the historical accuracy in the movie, wasn't as pretty as pearl harbor, but tuskegee airmen movie definately proved a point

i'm looking forward to that new tuskegee movie

The acting was terrific in the first one, I wonder who they will cast for the new one. Perhaps Denzel Washington!? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Although it wasn't quite like in the move. Chief Anderson was the man who flew the first lady.. he was an instructor pilot not a student. Not only that many of the characters were an amalgam of several Airmen. The main character was actually based on this man:

Note in the film that the protagonist's plane was number 10, he was from Ottumwa Iowa and his plane bore the markings of the 100th F.S..

Robert Williams actually wrote the story and co wrote the screenplay.

I can hardly wait to see the new movie, these guys are fantastic. I am a big fan. Their story, even with all the troubles they endured, with facing down hatred, ignorence, harrassment.......in the end is a heartwarming, uplifting story. And I shouldnt say its the end of the story though because many of them are still doing alot of good work for this country.

Hopefully the new movie will be better than that Flyboy poop!

Flyboys wasn't too bad... when I saw the guy running along the dirigible in the trailer I didn't expect much.. but you must admit it was still good to see the air action. Flyboys was predictable.... to a fault.

I just hope that Lucas gets the writing and the casting right. All these guys should lkook lie they are in thier 20s.... Ben Davis was only 30 when he graduated at Tuskegee.

The Tuskegee Airmen movie was very good to watch and I enjoyed it very much. I did not know they were making another one. I only hope that there will be brilliant acting and believable CGGs.

Lawrence Fishburn and Cuba were outstanding in The Tuskeegee movie.

The scene where the B17 pilots went to congratulate and thank the airmen for saving them really really hit home the useless hatred of racism. That scene still haunts me.

How low they were....fighting for the right to fly and defend their country along with everyone else. Then to finally do so and have their couragous efforts spit back at them like their efforts were bitter poisonous food to the recipiants. Haunting and shamefull'.

Took me a while to like John Lithgow again. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

It was OK, but It would have been alot better if they gave a rat's posterior about the accuracy of WW2 aircraft history. How tough is it to get a couple of P-40s? 51s in the Med? gimme a break. They didn't even try to get that right. Fighter planes are fighter planes apparently. Flying 51s then talking about "new" Mustangs?

I was rather let down by the technical aspect. I hope the new movie's producers know a bit more about ww2 aircraft, or care a bit more about such. I think the same guys made the movie "Midway" back in the 70s.

Telling a story like that is kinda hard to do in 2 hrs I realize, but the producers didn't take advantage of the resources at hand. Such a story deserves a bit better handling me thinks.

He certainly played that role well. You really did despise him by the end of the movie.

Did the Generals actually try to publish and prove that Afro-Americans were prone to blackouts thus should not fly for the military in fighter combat rolls ?
