Even though Oleg's in Germany, I think it's time we let him know that we appreciate the product again. It's been more than 5 years now that Il2 is at the tippy top of the sim world, and that's quite an achievement in the gaming industry.

Why two yes? He's not THAT good! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

And what the heck is he doing in Germany? Ordering a new M3 Coupé? He should be working on 4.06 and BoB!

Nonetheless, a great guy that gave us an even GREATER game! Countless hours of fun on my behalf. Keep it up Oleg!

Are you serious?

There are MANY, MANY sims that kick Il-2's ***. Maybe you should rephrase that to the "top WWII aviation sim".

Il-2 has nothing on Falcon 4, FS9, and even more so, FSX which is due shortly.

Quite possible the only fighter sim that has the slightest chance of coming close to Falcon's realism is the soon-to-come Fighter Ops. (http://www.fighterops.com)

Loads of tehnical mumbojumbo does not necessarily make sim immersive. You can put all technicalityes in a sim, but it would not make you feel G efect.
Oleg makes good equilibrium among diferent aspects of his game. Yes, game. Simulators cost millions of $.
Ofcourse, there are lots of things I would like to be better than thay are now...

Umm... yeah, and real pilots don't concern themselves with real technicalities, right?

They just hit "I", take off without the use of a runway, and fire their machine guns all day long. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

I meen that you can never compare real life, and this what we are doing. This is fake, with big F. Limitations of this tecnology we use that has just started to evolve are painfuly familiar to most of us.
My father, who was a pilot, only one time sat in front of the screen, and after few minutes was bored, becouse he lacked feeling that he is up there, in the air.
As for take offs, I allways use runway! For me, that`s the whole point, to try to be in the atmosphere of flying, and diferent historic situations. If I wanted to know where all the switches vere, I vould be spending my time in local museum and sat in the cockpit jerking with those things!
Real pilots have the benefit of flying beeing their REALITY, not fantasy like for most of us.
Go to flight school if you vont the real thing, here you can have only fantasy, dream if you like. What was the name of that caracter Dany Kay acted, Walter Mitty? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I hope you don't think that Skoda is made in Russia.
Well they do make them in Russia but they are not a Russian company.

Of course not, one reason I still keep the RD4 around. What orkan is trying to say is that in general all PC sim-games are unrealistic. Each one will be missing lots of factors out.

No I don't want to hit "I" in BoB either.

I've only flown two sims pretty much - Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe which I though was great back then and Sturmi which I think is great right right now.

Next with Storm of War which I know will be great for the next 10-15 years. As far as I'm concerned Storm of War will be the 'ultimate' flight sim I dreamt of as a kid, including use with VR goggles and a motion cage in a year or two. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Thx Oleg, you rock!

No, you misunderstand Ibis. Oleg drove Skodas before both of them were attacked by other drivers.
