Hi all!

Some short news:

1. We moved in new office (not more expencive if you think so).
2. We ordered to work more people to help us http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
3. We posted the info about our new job positions inside the team in Moscow (it works http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I have already about 20 candidates and we selected already one programmer. Next round of the meetings on the next week)
4. One modeller left the company to start his own company for mobile phones programming. We wish him the best in this new business.

That all above news about BoB development.

News on FB+AEP+PF development:

1. The new shots you may see on Dev. Update page.

2 Currently in work:

- 3 maps (2+1 for a merget install FB+AEP+PF and one (means the same +1 above) for PF)

- several new ground objects and possible vehicles.

New planes (or cockpits to make flyable)

Ki-100-I Ko (flyable. ready)

G4M1 (flyable. ready)

MC-200 (waiting from third party to put in engine and program)

MC-202 (almost done in 3D engine)

MC-205 (waiting...)

Re-2000 (waiting...)

Re-2001 (waiting...)

Cr-32 (possibly AI)

Mosquito B.Mk.IV (currently AI)

Mosquito FB.Mk.VI (flyable)

Do-335 (working with the own external model)

Fokker D-XXI (AI)

Tempest Mk.V (AI, waiting for a cockpit)

Spitfire Mk.XIV (waiting for a cockpit)

Avia B-534 (AI)

CW-21 (need to be finsihed).

Fiat G-55 (waiting for a cockpit input)

J2M3 (ready cockpit)

B6N2 (ready external model in 3D engine, third party working over cockpits)

Pe-2 (currently on a CD only for Russian market. I'm sorry for this)

Ju-88A-4 (cockpit and the plane. Sorry need more rework. We started it finally ourselves)

The list of aircraft above doesn't means that we will have them all. It will depends of our loading with BoB and conditions of these models that are done by third party. Anyway I list the planes that has the best chance to meet the virtual sky of Il-2-PF community.
Only the limit of time frame that we have ask us to completely finish these (and some other planes) till mid of the next month (march) and only in prefect conditions (100% without bugs).

I told that it will happens. We have enough to do just wuith all above listed ... Compare with some stand alone sims....

But I din't post the works that now in progress by separatelly ordered team (trained very well by us) - at first it will meet only Russain market (CDs), but then possibly western (after full beta test on russian market http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gifhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gifhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gifhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif). Sorry for this, but its not my decision or politic.

We also expect nice things from Ian Boys and some others http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

So the life is good http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif At least for user http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I would, but there are big limits currently with serious input, but not only with our time.
And finally the sides more or less will be balanced... Becasue currently for the Japane just Ki-84 is good.. But for US - all...
So there will be more online competitions using Japanese planes...

Thx, Oleg! This was a long needed statement.

@Endrju: We're trying! I promise! Although we have to learn during a long time how to do so. Even if we control all again and again, there can be unexpected bugs everywhere. Thats why the are called 'bugs' - they are tiny, silent and fast. I bet nobody can do a model 100 bug free. I take this in a general way. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I will try to clear the thing. I mean that third party should finish all unfinished things and give us without the bugs that will take our time to correct (for correction we will haven't anymore time)

But we plan to split the whole staff it in several add-ons. How many - depends of many factors. But I prefer to make just one... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif But I also understand that it would be impossible due to different other works and thier party works...

Thanks a bunch for the update Oleg!! We do appreciate it.

I'm still worried about the lack of any future U.S. planes and U.S. and Japanese ships being added to Pacific Fighters. Well I hate to be the one to point out the turd in the punch bowl, but 1 map for PF and 2 eastern front maps. What PF map is it? Tell me it's not some obscure island that you cant build a campaign around.

I can live with the plane set we have for PF, I never thought that was the problem the others did. I can live with a limited ship data base. But what I have been "whining" about is the lack of usable maps for the late '42 thru mid '44.

What map is the one single included map for PF?

Oleg thank yo for your work.. how about doing the same thing as the developer of Lomac did? They distribute the new 1.1 Lomac to West via their internetsite for people to download...... pay per Visa or something... That way you don't need distributors and can get some well earned money for you and your company!

No ships there but I will be able to fly my namesake... the Ki-100. The Tempest, Raiden, and Mossie also look pretty cool.

Oleg... you mention 3rd party development of the series in the future. Is there a chance that someone at a later date can fill out PF? I'd be willing to pay for an add-on that would give us a reasonable number of ships.

Thanks for the news and the hard work.

Thank you very much oleg for your work on this sim; the best their is. I wish you all the best for many more years in this business. I did however have a question that concerns me somewhat. Is this patch going to be a downloadible release or a whole new CD add-on? More importantly, are you raising the system requierments at all? (hope not). I have a Pentium 4, 3.06 GHZ; 1 gig of dual channel DDR-SD RAM, running at 333 MHZ and a Radeon 256 MB 9600 video card (looking to update to a ATI Radeon X8 platinum before this new update is release. In short, I'm concerned wheather or not I'll be able to run this wonderful sim on my system with no problems.

GREAT UPDATE OLEG!!!!! Mossie!! Whiooooo!! I hope that the issues with the Avenger get worked out...... it would be such a shame to have lawyers mess up our having that plane under these FMs..... Thanks for taking the time to let us know whats up.. as you can see we've all been getting patch happy.... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

Is there any possibility since we have you here now.. of us getting a few skinnable objects into FB before the final chapter is written? Objects like..... say signs.. that we could write on.... maybe of various sizes..like from big enough to go across the front gate of an airfield to small enough to fit on the side of a hangar....? Is that even possible? It would go a long way towards adding to a little more creativity as far as missioin building goes....... and before it is said and done.. is there a way to make the default skin defineable on the users machine..... say If I am hosting a mission and I have the skins set to default...... the skin would be whatever the default was set to on my rig... on someone elses rig it would be whatever they had as default..... and if the static AC were hard coded set to default skins only...... you see where I am going with this? Maybe a simple workaround maybe not...... but thanks and I look forward to the next few months..... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I mention this because not everything he has talked about is promised. This community has a long history of not reading all of what Oleg posts, or misunderstanding it. I'm with Nimitz, I have been supporting this series all along, buying all the products since the original IL, hoping for PF. This update does little for me. I just don't get it. There is not alot that would have to be done to put alot of value back in the product. Two Clases of US BB's, A CBI map, a Solomons Slot Map. Even with this update you cannot do Pearl Harbor as there are no US BB's. Still no flyable US torpedo planes though the lack of IJN ships makes this somewhat moot. At least if the map is CBI then we can possible cobble together a Flying Tiger campaign. Most of what I purchased PF for is simply not there and now doesn't look like it ever will be. I can gurantee you that I will be taking a LONG hard look before I look into BOB.

"I have never assumed Mr. Maddox "promised" anything, other than to deliver a reasonable effort at a good simulator. And I know the plane, ship, and map lists released before PF went gold were tenative. But when you are told that 40 new ship classes are planned to be in the game and in reality receive less than half of them (and in a couple of cases the most irrelevent half of them), one is bound to be severely dissappointed."

You Sir, were not promised that. Im not severely disapointed, we have got more than what we asked for. Ubi rushed 1C into releasing it to early.

Well I guess you are right, but if UBI have no will to release any addons on the western market due to their lack of interest (too little money involved) I can't see why Mr Maddox can't make a small deal with them to distribute addons via internet himself as these guys are doing it;

http://lockon.ru/?end_pos=9&lang=en&scr=list&page=1#405

"Web site download: Download the add-on to Lock On: Modern Air Combat (Lock On: Modern Air Combat required). -- The English version can be downloaded from www.LockOn.ru (http://www.LockOn.ru). Payment will be via PayPal and the download will be approximately 250 MB. The add will works with English, German and French versions of Lock On; "

I mean Lock On was distributed by Ubisoft as well. If These guys can do it why not Oleg and Company. If Maddox Game can see a possible source of income for future Addons of the IL2 franchise, skipping the expensive distribition step, this game could live on for some time. No one is more happy than me if we get free maps and planes in patches, but I for one is prepared to pay for it it. More dough for Maddox Games - more stuff for us gamers!

PS Maybe they can even afford paying off those cheap companies that requires license payment and we can have some toys for PF fans? No deal with distributors, no cd markings no boxes, 3rd party modelers, money in the bank via internetpayment... could maybe pile up some money right?

p1ngu666

printing and making of cds and boxes is cheap on a per unit bases. talking 5dollars if u dont do a thick booklet. u just haveto produce alot, economies of scale. on the onwhine dl is good, i bought pontifex2 online, and recently spent 5dollars to buy some bandwidth to get a bunch of ebooks.

The thing about Pay-downloadable "updates" is that there are some folks(like me) who don't like(or trust) buying things online or don't own a credit card. 56kers would also be at a disadvantage. To the disdain of many parents, I'm sure that online only pay updates would negatively impact most younger FB players too, though admittedly I have no idea what percentage of FB players are minors.

a couple of questions and comments.

first off, there are undertones of disappointment in this thread. all the patches oleg does should be considered 'gifts'. (at least beyond the point of correcting major bugs). keep in mind it is just a GAME that u only spent approx $50-$100 (currency dependant), dont expect the world. i saw a post about someone complaining about lack of 42-43 maps and US battleships or something. just use other maps and generic battleship models. not many people are savvy enough on the history of WWII to know the airfield their flying from didnt actually exist in real life etc. and if our zipping past a battleship at 350kmh there definately wont be many people who could identify a specific ship.

next thing, the suggestion of online payable updates would be good but you could not ignore distribution. people on dialup or people without the internet at all would miss out.

lastly, with the pe-2 being only flyable for russians (im not concerned, i dont fly bombers full stop), would this concern compatability between russian and 'non-russian' versions?

thanks to anyone with any info. nice work Oleg http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

and not this gnomish view in IL2/FB/PF as this at FW-190 and some more planes http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

OK.. sorry.. the design(PF) of the Corsair is quiet well and more compare to real things of pilots view as we can hope from a pc-sim design in the past http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

quantity or quality ...?

I guess we have a inflation of many new planes (most by third partys) and few fixes to the rest
in the game .. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif
Hope of a separate design patch to this problems at some old planes in near future http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

BS, we paid for a standalone (as in a product that can stand on it's own merits...or feet as it were) and we have so far 4 months down the road, we are still missing the contents of the 3rd cd (which IIRC, was promised as a D/L immeditely after launch in the original readme) and we are still missing the ability to conduct "Pacific" operations from Oct 42 thru June 44 because there are no maps for use in the air campaign from Guadalcanal all the way up to Rabual. There were no carrier engagements after the Santa Cruz (Sept 42) until the Philippine Sea in June 44.

So thats 23 months between carrier battles. I wonder where all the combat was taking place for those 23 months? Some was taking place on NG, as MacAuthor was working on driving back into the Philippines thru NG, using a mix of US/ANZAC forces. That leaves the entire Eastern Solomans air campaign, which was land based using AAF/USMC/USN forces. This is where the heart of the IJA and IJN air fleets were gutted in a brutal war of attrition that they had no hope of winning.

The plane set included for US forces (likely all we are going to get) is tailored for the land based air campaign in the eastern solomans. The Hellcat and F4U-1 and 1A made their debut in this theater, and fought alonside the SBD, TBF/M, Wildcats, and mid years AAF aircraft. Even the IJN/IJA planset is tailored for this area, with the early and mid years aircraft.

So from a content aspect, we are still floating in the breeze and will most likely continue to get hung out because whoever decided what maps to produce had never taken a look at the Pacific theater and only looked at the "Hollywood" depiction of the PTO for their historic guide. Someone with knowledge of the Pacific war should have been consulted to avoid missing 23 freaking months of crutial air combat operations in a standalone sim with the name "Pacific Fighters"

Good news for us, Oleg. Soooo many planes, and sooo much to do! I suspect that most people here that are dissatisfied didn't go out and buy Jane's Attack Squadron. Now, that could have been a good game, but the Looking Glass development team were axed by EA when Jane's Information Group pulled their name from gaming products for a short time. It was going to have animated cockpits, gauges that were going to work, good fm's . . . . a good game . . . BUT . . . By the time that Jane's IG realized that they were benefiting from having the name on games, well, alot of developers were lost to other jobs (yes, they have to eat too). Mad Doc (no relation to Maddox) secured the game, but the game was released unfinished . . . BIGTIME! You applied rudder. and the animated pedals flipped upside down. None of the gauges worked, and it was full of bugs. A patch was released that fixed a couple of things, but the game was sooooo unfinished.

My point is: There are alot of things that can go wrong for the developer, and ultimately, the game itself. Our problems are minimal, but just look at what all is there for us, not what isn't there! I'd like to see a few more things myself, but I am not going to allow that to keep me from enjoying what I DO have http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I agree; we must be thankful for what we do have, not for what we don't. Need I remind anyone that Oleg DOES NOT have to take the time to communicate with us in the manner in which he does; we should considers ourselves quite fortunate to have direct communication with the company president of our beloved sim. Maddox could of easily discussed amongst themselves what was and wasn't going to be released in this new update. Furthermore, some of act like adding things to the game is all there is to it, hence all the complaining. In the midst of those complaints, appreciation for the hard work needed to make this sim all that is in the areas of graphics, sound, and overall flight model is much neglected. Do any of you even fathom what mathematics and hours of labor of typing millions of lines of code goes into what we no have? I'm an up and coming graphic artist student, and believe me, this is no stroll to gamma€s house. While it would be nice to have more for the Pacific Theatre, I'm certain this is not the last chapter of this epic IL-2 saga; let us wait (patiently) to see what Oleg unveils in the next chapter(s). As already mentioned there is a lot of legality involved; therefore, we don't have precisely what we won€t because Oleg can't release what he'd like to. Case and point: a Swastika enabler has to be downloaded to have historically accurate German planes; reflect on that for a moment, think of the reason(s) for that, because I assure you that it€s not for ****s and giggles. I am not a WW2 buff, but enjoy this game very much; when I'm up 5,000-1000, meters, I don't have time to think of what planes I don't have; all I'm worried about is A: my mission objective, B: getting the bogey off my *** without having a new hole planted in it, and C: landing my plane safely. Someone brought up thee point of €œI don€t know how many minors play IL-2€. Well, in much of this thread when I read €œI don€t have this€ and €œI want that€ many of you sound no older than children. With all that being said, I'm confident that this is not the end of the IL-2 series; long after computer technology has moved forward, and new games are on the market, we'll either be playing new installments of this revolutionary, one of kind sim, or come back to whatever will be the close. I for one am very thankful for the products Oleg provides, the quality that accompanies those products, and is epically pleased with the dedication that Mr. Oleg Maddox has to the community. Ladies and gentlemen, Oleg needs our support and not just our *****ing and moaning. Thank you Oleg, you have my full support

Thanks for the update.I can't wait - especially for a B6N (partly to pretend it's a B5N, but at least we now have a Japanese TB. With J2M, G4M and Ki-100 flyable we now are doing pretty well with japanese planes. And the Fokker and Cw21 are great.

With all the Italian planes, it looks like we must be getting some Med theatre maps and missions for the merged install.

What I'd really like to see more than other planes is atleast 1 Japanese and 1 US battleship modelled (preferably Kongo class and an early war US ship like Arizona or Colorado. Pearharbor really looks strange with KGVs

But this game is great, even without any more add ons. Far better out of the box than any other PW sim.

For comparison, I saw tickets advertised for a local U-2 concert: $300.00. For 1/6th. of that price we can wake up any morning we want for months to come and have an hour or more of good clean fun. After the U-2 concert is over, they can wake up with ringing ears, hangovers or drug withdrawals. We are getting more than our money's worth.

S! Oleg

Thank you for the update. I'm glad to hear you're doing well.

I think it's the lack of information that makes a lot of people upset (including me). Sure, I'd like to have whatever plane as soon as possible, but it's really frustrating not knowning the status on the planes. I'd rather know what's going on and have to wait a while for a plane I really want than be left in the dark the whole time. So Oleg, would it be possible to get more of these "updates"? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Also, when can we expect more screenshots, updates, feature lists, etc. etc. for BoB? I know you're still working hard on it and it's not near ready, but when will the secrecy end? :P I can't wait for BoB!!!!!

Thanks again, Oleg!!

I am generally happy about those news, though having the feeling that I know only 5% of the game, I am not in a lot of hurry.
I have one comment : I don't see the interest of releasing AI only Tempest and Spitfire Mk XIV :
What I mean is that I am waiting to fly those aircraft (especially after having seen the work of the modellers), therefore AI only will only improve my frustration http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
Actually, those aircraft are interesting for online play but as AI only, they are useless.
For offline play, their existence on existing maps can be rated as marginal at best.
So I think that including them AI only would only result in more whining and is a loss of time : better to wait to have a full aircraft + cockpit before talking about integrating them in a patch.

is there any hope for a P-40N? it was afterall the most highly produced model of the P-40 series and used extensively throughout the pacific by both the U.S. and Australia. to give you an idea of the ammount of aircraft produced...

P-40B approx. 131
P-40C approx. 193
P-40E approx. 2,320
P-40M approx. 600
P-40N-1-15 approx. 1,977
P-40N-20-35 approx. 3,022
P-40N-40-CU approx. 220

and if an africa expansion ever comes out, a P-40F or P-40L would be cool too, hehehehe.

Ok Oleg, her's what I suggest. Reading through the reactions after your announcement, the plane that is mostly commented on is the beloved Pe-2.
Ubi is [probably] making a fuss about releasing the 'Russian' add-on for us non-Russian mortals, so what is there to do about this.
F19 Orheim suggested that we can buy it online from Russia, but others complained that K56 and non-creditcard owners then would have a problem. regarding the K56 users; downloading a patch would be a problem for you guys as well.

There could be another option; releasing the Pe-2 as a separate add-on plane without anything else; the other add-on's, patches etc. would come after that then. It would solve this 'problem' for us non-Russians http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

You knew what you were getting.

You knew it wouldn't come with a torp bomber, you just assumed you'd get one free and are mad when you don't get on.

The IJA Bomber is coming. I would have liked it if Oleg had released it when he said he was going to, and released the other stuff later, but I don't care.

Get the DCG if you care so much about the campaign.

"Stupid AI" is a stupid accusation. Oleg's done the best he could, but it's not something that's can to be fixed with a patch. It part of the engine's limitation. Besides you knew what it would be like form playing FB.

BTW if you've actually played the game you will find ships in there. Just too few. The game was rushed by UBI and people like you who kept whining about the release date not being soon enough. I would like it if the ships were finished in the next patch, and maybe Oleg will change his mind. Still you weren't promised those ships when you bought the game.

Whining because you don't get enough free stuff is a bad idea. It makes people want to give you less free stuff.

So this means no (real) flyable torpedo planes like the Kate and TBF/M then does it...?

And how about the long overdue fixes (since at least FB and probably Sturmovik) like the weird wobbling propellors that a large number of (if not all) aircraft still have to this day - such as the Hurricane(s), pretty much all of the A6Ms and so on and on? So, is this new planes for Russia only then since Ubi won't let 1C release new aircraft?

Just wait till all the mosquito fans find out their favorite wish item is for Russia only.

(I know I waited since Il2 for Pe-2 and can't have it)

Well why not add some heat seeking missles and some afterburners to the Spit, it flies like a freaking jet anyway. No energy bleed off in this baby. If it is hit, it can still outurn and outclimb anything in the air. Speed and manuverability I have no problem with at all, but it doesn't loose energy for aquat. It is such a noob plane.

Not trying to make any sort of suggestion regarding anything illegal...but we are all (mostly) adults here, and I'm sure y'all can take it with a grain. I know we have all paid for the sim we are using, as well as all the add-ons. Every one of us has. BUT...If they don't sell the russia only release to North American customers, that doesn't mean that North American customers can't get it. It just means Oleg et al and UBI Soft won't get any money for it. Unfortunately for UBI soft some of the greatest hackers/crackers/warez suppliers happen to come from Russia. It will be up to each and every one of us in North America as to whether we get the Pe-2. For what it matters...I pay for software I like. As I said, I am sure we all do. I am sure that Ubi will do the right thing for Oleg et al and market this add on to North America in time, so they can get the coin they deserve. The fact it's only going to be marketed in Russia really doesn't stop anyone in North America from getting a copy if they are so inclined. Y'all might not like what I'm saying, but it's the plain simple truth...

Glad that you are keeping the faith we users. Heartened to see such a large list of additional planes. Was disappointed to see the Fokker D-XXI listed as AI. Great to know that the development of BoB is
in the works, really looking farward to it.It
sounds like there will be a lot of historical
battles developed into the game. Not only will
it be fun to play but will teach us a little bit of history as well......Great and about
time. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

there was never a spitfire made out of wood for production ,only the elevators, rudder and ailerons were made of fabric until the end of bob ,after that they were metal, there was an aerolite (plastic)spit made but only for evaluation purposes , and oleg m8 the beaufighter wasnt in the bob !

Did you get any help with this yet? Hope so.
If not, try posting once more under the "Community Help" forum, which is another forum under the "1C:Maddox Games" family of forums. Post more details about what's happening if you can.

I'd love to help you myself, but I'm not too swift with PC's. You'd be much better served on that forum - there are a number of really helpful, sharp people there. Good luck - it's well worth the effort!

Thanks for all the stuff you give us and sell to us that is superior to anything out there.

Im hoping that we could get some additional versions of planes that already exist that are really leaving holes in WW2, as it may just involve a little external modification on some,.....especially the P-38F (vital for any project before 1944), P-47N (Home island japan projects), P-51A (The nose would need a bit of work, but would be nice) and B-24D (ai-really needed for anything before 1944, like the P38F).

and i dont mean to beat a dead horse, but ive seen interest in users creating just a few ships...I'd pay for an adon with this, and Im sure most PF users would to. Microsoft CFS2 was never finished and naval sim guys really need a replacement for that. Thanks again.....

Does anyone that can buy the russian add-on to make me a favour and accept to buy the CD and ship it to me in Brazil? Of course I will refund or pay in advance all the expenses (credit card, wire transfer or Pay-Pal); I cannot believe that in those days it is still possible to deny consumers what they are asking for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry if I appear to be rude, but I want the Pe-2 included in the game!
